Every decision and every action produces some kind of reaction or consequence.

Anyone can write a story: you need a hero, or “heroine,” an antagonist or villain, a plot, a moral and something fascinating or inexplicable. The story of Esther has them all. Mordecai is the hero: he saves the kings life and then he saves the Jews from extermination. Esther is the heroine: it was her courage and standing with the king that made the salvation of the Jews possible. And then there is are villain–hateful Haman. His hatred of Mordecai and the Jews was an obsession. Everything Haman did was motivated by hate–it was his driving passion.

Mordecai has no affection for Haman but he is driven by his concern for Esther and the Jewish people. He also loved and supported his king. He was great because he cared for others and promoted their welfare. Mordecai knew that Haman hated Jews; he knew that Haman was an enemy to himself and his people but he never became obssessed with Haman. To be honest, I doubt that he gave Haman that much thought. The moral of the story is that hate will destroy the hater. Haman was hanged on gallows he built for Mordecai and what he intended to do to the Jews was turned on himself and his family.

In the old day, I was a Star Wars fan. I think I lost interest after the first four. The emperor {the devil} tries to use the force {Spirit} to turn Luke to the dark side. All the emperor has to do to accomplish his goal is get Luke to hate; make him a hater. Hate, like guilt is an acid that we are not equipped to carry. A rattlesnake was created to carry venom that can kill its enemy but never harms the snake. Humans are not snakes and we can’t carry venom without becoming toxic ourselves.

Several years ago I was asked by a family member to visit a granddad who was dying. I had visited him in the hospital and they had moved him home for his last days on this earth. I knocked on the door and was invited in but as soon as I entered the room where the man lay, one woman got up promptly and left not saying a word. Her sister apologized to me for her rudeness but she didn’t give me any explanation. I mentioned this to the person who ask me to visit and they said immediately, that was aunt So-in-so, she hates your guts. I said, “How is that possible, I don’t know the woman and I’ve never seen the woman before in my life.” The family member said curtly, “Well, she knows you.” It reminds me of the story of the two old prospectors that lived in a mine and had a pet snake. They would watch that snake catch a rat and swallow it whole and one would say to the other, “I’d hate to live like that.” You don’t have to, there is a better way.

I have to be careful but I have PRAISE! I got a project completed yesterday and got if off my feeble mind. I prayed about it Sunday night and I set the day aside for me and the LORD to finish this project together and He answered my prayer. Lord willing, I will finish reading the REB today. I lack three chapters in Leviticus. I’ve been reading the Revised English Bible for the past two years. I loved it! PRAISE THE LORD for His infinite goodness.

June said after Thomas and Larry’s promotion: there will be another, they always come in three’s and sure enough Joe David and I will be attending Bobby Cannants COLS today in Bessemer.

Congrats to Clara Miller who graduated West Morgan High School last night. The graduation was at 7:30 and I found out at 7:15…Sorry Mrs. Clara, I know you will forgive me.

Lord willing, I will be taking a short sabbatical toward the end of the week. Our plan is to leave with the grands for the mountains on Thursday morning early. There may be a blog for Thursday but Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will be off line. No, I am not riding the LIGHTENING ROD nor am I watching my grands ride it either.
