Scripture
I will punish the world for its evil, and wicked people for their iniquities. I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant and humiliate the insolence of tyrants.
Isaiah 13:11, CSB
Quote
The root of evil in each of our hearts is extremely deep, and this is the basic cause of the world’s problems; only the fire of God can burn it out.
~Billy Graham
Two hundred years after Christ a man by the name of Cyprian became the bishop of Carthage and he wrote to a friend by the name of Donatus. His letter is incredibly interesting. “It is a bad world, Donatus, an incredibly bad world, but I have discovered in the midst of it a quiet and holy people, who have learned a great secret. They have found a joy which is a thousand times better than any of the pleasures of sinful living. They are despised and persecuted but don’t seem to care because they have overcome the world. These people Donatus are called Christians, and I am one of them.”
I guess we are prone to think that our world is more wicked today than any time prior, but the truth is, the world has always been wicked. I thought about Noah’s day and Genesis 6, Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with wickedness. It is not really a new thing. I don’t think of Lot as a spiritual giant, but even he was vexed by the wickedness of Sodom. I don’t think we should feel at home in the midst of this wickedness, but we can’t change it. Jesus can and will, but we don’t know when that will be. In the meantime we must learn to be meek. It might not make a huge difference, but it will make a difference and someone will notice. The meek have learned the grace of surrender. They are yielded and still, seeking God’s will. They have a peace and a joy that the world knows nothing about. Stay true to Christ and someone will see the Light. Remember, a light house does not have a horn, only a light. Let His light shine through you.

If you don’t already know, I preach to myself and I blog to myself. I am as guilty as anyone about fretting over the wickedness of this world. Reminds me of a story. We were serving a small church in central Mississippi and I had an old man, Charlie Thompson, do a revival. He brought his wife Georgia and they stayed in our home. I got on to June about something, don’t remember what. I must have told her that she couldn’t do something, and Georgia heard me. She got right in my face and said, “What about you bud!” I didn’t like her before this happened, and her butting in to my business didn’t up her stock. June can probably remember what I did to tick the old heifer off.
Grace Pointer’s remember we have outdoor worship this Sunday at 9:00 sharp. Donuts and coffee at 8:30 on the porch. We are praying for cloud cover but if it is hot, we will be brief. You may have to run your air and listen on the radio.
Football season is upon us. We go to Wilson tonight which is a few miles south of Wayneboro, Tennessee.
Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
