Confession

Scripture

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

~I John 1:8-9, NLT

It is the lack of confession that spoils our happiness.

I’m not a big fan of Sigmund Freud the so called father of modern psychiatry but he did discover psychoanalysis. Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. Freud and Viktor Frankl had quite a bit in common: both were Austrian, both were Jews and both were neurologist with one huge difference: Freud believed that man was driven by the ego, id {sex drive} and super-ego. Frankl believed man is purpose driven. You give a man a goal and hope of achieving that goal and he will survive. No question in my mind: Frankl is much closer to the truth.

But the interesting thing is this: Freud discovered psychotherapy by accident. A woman came to him with her problems and he tried to send her away but she would not take no for an answer. Exasperated, Freud agreed to see the woman once a week for an hour. She came in to his office and talked: he listened and after several weeks, he noticed that the woman was getting better. Confession is good for the soul. We would not have Psalm 23 had not David confessed his sin [recorded in Psalm 32/51]. Basically speaking, David witness would have been finished had he not come clean. Thank God for his confession.

Another great day: thank you Jesus. I had lots of liberty at both Grace Point and Danville. Didn’t need any notes: I love with the Holy Spirit [the real preacher] takes over. God is good.
