David Or Jesus

Scripture

“But you, Yahweh, take pity on me! Put me on my feet and I will give them their due.”

~Psalm 41:10, New Jerusalem Bible

Quote

“I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, that to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.”

~Isaiah {45:23}

David is the only king of Israel who never suffered a defeat on the battle field but he did suffer a defeat of sorts when absalom rebelled. Because David was betrayed by some high ranking cabinet members, he had no clue that a coo was in motion. By the time he realized what was going on; flight seemed to be his only recourse. David writes Psalm 41 while in retreat and he makes the LORD a promise in verse 10, “You put me back on my feet and I will give my enemies what’s coming to them.” You know the history: God restored David and he did take care of his enemies. When he got back to Jerusalem, all his enemies were on their knees begging for mercy.

Understand, David is a type of Christ. Jesus in our behalf suffered an agonizing and painful defeat but God the Father restored Him and He is coming back to this earth to hold all His enemies accountable. Guess what, they too will be on their knees begging for mercy. I am telling you folks, there will be no resistance. David had none and neither will Jesus. His enemies will be overwhelmed by the glory of His presence; they will not have the strength or courage to resist–they will bow, they all will bow.
