Divine Ownership

Scripture

For all the world is mine, and everything in it!

~Psalm 50:12, TLB

Quote

“We all need to learn how to cooperate with the inevitable.”

~Quote came from a slave [have no name]

I love Psalm 50 but again, I love all the Psalms. People are under the illusion that they owe stuff but in reality, you and I own nothing. People name estates after themselves as though the land would be forever theirs but the meek will inherit the land. Your name may be on a deed but deeds are temporary. Whereas most people, probably 95% [which is a guess], believe that earthy riches bring security and happiness; the truth is–they bring neither. The power of wealth is gone when they die and they take none of their possessions with them. As they move toward their inevitable end, they become anxious and concerned about their wealth and who will get it and how it will be used. People like me don’t have to worry about such things.

I read these words in Psalm 49 yesterday…They trust in their wealth and boast about how rich they are, yet not one of them, though rich as kings, can ransom his own brother from the penalty of sin! For God’s forgiveness does not come that way. For a soul is far too precious to be ransomed by mere earthly wealth. There is not enough of it in all the earth to buy eternal life for just one soul, to keep it out of hell. Rich man! Proud man! Wise man! You must die like all the rest! You have no greater lease on life than foolish, stupid men. You must leave your wealth to others.

It took me a long time to understand God’s economy. I doubt that any one coveted ownership as much as yours truly when he was younger but now at age 70, I do not own a home or even one acre of land. I understand fully, that everything is temporary. Why would I build a house on a camp site? I can move in a heart beat because I knew from the beginning…nothing belongs to me. Everything belongs to my Father and I trust Him to take care of me. I cannot lose what I do not possess.

Actually, Psalm 50 is about the Israelites bringing sacrifices to God and the LORD informs them that He is not impressed with their offerings. He said, “You think you are giving me these animals…these animals are mine, they belong to Me so technically, you are not giving me anything.” Then the LORD tells them what He wants from them: [1] He wants them to be thankful for what He has given them, [2] He wants them to be faithful to Him, [3] He wants them to trust Him and Him alone, [4] He wants them to give Him the glory, to bring Him true praise, not sacrificial animals. Jesus died owning nothing but a robe and yet He changed the world forever. It is not what you possess that counts; it is what possesses you.

I know some of you are tired of the rain but it beats a drought hands down. I enjoy driving in rain when it is not heavy and there is not someone on my bumper. I told June last night going to church: the grass and trees are as green as they are in April. Our corn in Lawrence County is on up land and it is doing fine. Both of our corn patches are named GRACE. Joe Fitz and Ken Holladay afforded me the first and Jimmy Newby gave me the seed for the second. Those seed he gave me cost $110.00 per pound. He gave me more than a pound. It’s my daily reminder: EVERYTHING IS GRACE.

Are you as sick and tired of government interference as I am? We do not need government to tell us when we can burn or where we can go. June and I have decided: we will not go anywhere where they make you wear a mask. Disney World is opening but you have to wear a mask. Its not like I plan to go to Disney World–its not on my bucket list. I might wear a mask to go to the Masters, the world series, or the Kentucky Derby but not for gay world. I don’t need big brother government to tell me what to do. I know the risk, if I want to take them–that is my business. It is time to go back to normal. If people want to get out, so be it. If we start dropping like flies due to the virus, we will start wearing mask and staying at home. As it is, we don’t know what’s real and what is fictional. Original reports indicated that 81% of American’s would be infected and there would be 2.2 million deaths. I do not know of one single person who has been infected. I know of one who was tested but he tested negative. If 8 out of 10 were infected, I think we would know someone with the virus. I think the libs are behind this and I think they are lying through their teeth. Prove me wrong!

I understand, I may get the virus; I could even die from the virus but I still think people should be free to take risk if that is they way they want to live with whatever time they have left.
