Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

~John 14:27, NIV

Christ’s Peace is not the calm after the storm, it is the calm in the storm.

~Ya’akov

Jesus parting gift to His disciples was PEACE. If you will give this some thought, you will come to realize the value of this gift. I was praying for Belinda and her family yesterday morning. I know this has been a tough year for the Graham’s and they have to be tired and exhausted. At this time, what do they need most? I know what I would want in a circumstance like this or any circumstance: I would want the gift Jesus gave to His disciples, I would want peace. This incredible peace that Jesus gives passes all understanding and it banishes fear. Once the fear is driven out, the soul can find rest. Money is not the answer to grief and heart break. All the money in the world cannot bring even a minute of solace. Friends can certainly help, no one should walk through this deep dark valley alone but the gift of all gifts is peace.

Horatio Spafford was a wealthy lawyer and businessman from Chicago, Illinois. He first lost his only son to scarlet fever, then the great Chicago fire broke out and he lost millions of dollars in real estate holdings. As a reward he sent his wife and four daughters to Europe on a cruise. They were going there is support of Dwight L. Moody but their ship wrecked and only the wife was saved: Spafford’s four daughters drown. When Spafford went to get his wife, he had the ship captain take him to the spot where his daughters went down and there, standing on the bow of the boat, he was inspired to write the beloved hymn “It is Well With My Soul.” This first line of this hymn goes like this…
“When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.” Peace is the most coveted gift for me: with peace you can face anything and without it we are miserable. You can have the money, the fame, the success: just give me Jesus {Peace}.

Loving the cool weather. Got a little work to do on the green house but other than that, I am ready for the cool weather. Big Mama has been so busy, she hadn’t had a chance to make stew but we have some good turnip greens. We have plenty if anyone needs greens–you just have to pick them.
