Every Knee Will Bow

Scripture

I have sworn by myself, and I will never go back on my word, for it is true—that every knee in all the world shall bow to me, and every tongue shall swear allegiance to my name.

~Isaiah 45:23, TLB

Quote

There is no use in you saying, you choose to lie down when it is impossible to stand.

~C.S. Lewis

June is helping a neighbor move and the person she is assisting is giving away old things and so June brought me a book to see if I wanted it. It was MERE CHRISTIANITY by C.S. Lewis. I have read this tiny book three times already but I took it and carried it to my study. It was like new, no notes or underlines. My old copies are filled with notes so I decided to read the new one. To be honest, I think the Spirit lead me to read the new one. I was reading chapter 5 the other day and I had some thoughts I wanted to share.

The Apostle Paul quotes Isaiah twice: Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10…Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is LORD to the glory of God the Father. According to Lewis, in Christ and the incarnation, God landed in enemy-occupied territory disguised as an humble servant. The Jewish people as a whole struggled with the image that Jesus presented. They did not want an humble, meek, suffering servant: they did want a conquering king; one who could defeat all their enemies and restore their nations glory. The Jews rejected Jesus the suffering servant. Why did God show up as a poor Jewish carpenter who was betrayed by a friend and condemned by the nations highest court? Since is the God of creation, who chooses the path of the stars, why didn’t He show up in force and invade the planet?

Well, praise God, Jesus will return and when He does, He will come in force. I don’t know how many angels there are but they are coming with Him. I would imagine it could be trillions but millions, billions or trillions–it will most definitely be a show of force and every knee will bow. For believers, His glorious return will spark irresistible love and for the lost irresistible horror. No one will have the strength to stand even if that was to be their desire. Have no doubt–God will invade this earth and when He does, it will be over. When the author steps on to the stage, the play is over. To be on the safe side, you need to declare your allegiance to Christ while the enemy still occupies the planet. During WWII, the Nazis invaded France. They met very little resistance. The French are prone to compromise. When the allies liberated France from the enemy, suddenly all the French distanced themselves from the Germans. When Jesus returns, it will not be a time of choosing which side you are on; it will be a time of revealing whose side you have been on.

I had three post prepared and was going to post from the house on my I-Pad but there was no extra. I would have bet my life there was but there wasn’t so I came on out. Maybe it was yesterday’s post that had a lot of extra. Any who, some of my readers get up early so we are posting earlier today. I’ll probably think of something later but right now, my mind is blank. I do love this weather. It was 59* when I came out to the building.

Have a great day!
