Following Instructions

Scripture

My son, never forget the things I’ve taught you. If you want a long and satisfying life, closely follow my instructions.

~Proverbs 3:1, LB

There are three kinds of people: those who learn by instruction, those who learn by correction and those who never learn.

~Ya’akov

I bought a Pit-Bull grill from Lowes because it was half the price of the Traeger and the first couple of times I used it, I was thrilled. Then as I was grilling for our Easter get together, it stopped working and I had it loaded with meat. Of course I starting bad mouthing Lowes for selling junk which they never stand behind. Seth and Braden were here and they came to help me. While I was fussing and moving the meat to a traditional grill, Braden was on his phone watching a YouTube tutorial about the grill. He told Seth to unscrew the vent pike at the top so it could get more air. Immediately, the grill began working. The problem was not the grill; the problem was that I never read the instruction on operating the grill. Imagine that!

The same is true in life. Some people go through life fussing and ranting about the horrible circumstances they face but the problem is not their circumstances; it is their blatant disregard for following life’s instructions. Just listen for a moment to the bible’s instruction for a fruitful and fulfilling life.

Never forget to be truthful and kind; embrace the good and shun the evil. If you want to find favor with both God and men; then trust the LORD completely and never rely on yourself. In every thing you do, put Jesus first and He will lead you down the right path. Do not be proud or conceited: trust His wisdom not your own. Honor the LORD by tithing: it is a discipline of faith that honors the LORD and expresses to Him your love and thanksgiving. If you put your trust in Him, He will provide for all your needs. Don’t get upset when the LORD corrects you: He wouldn’t do it if He did not love you. Remember, the person who knows the LORD and knows right from wrong will be far more happy and fulfilled than the person who is immensely rich with the world’s wealth. Understand this, a relationship with Jesus is worth more than all the wealth in the world.

These instruction come from Proverbs chapter three: You follow them and see what happens. I guarantee you they will lead to life, abundant life.
