God’s SEVEN WONDERS

Scripture

Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!”

~Luke 5:26, NLT

Quote

There were seven wonders in the ancient world and seven wonders in the modern world but God has seven wonders too.

~Billy Graham

The seven wonders of the ancient world were: [1] The Great Pyramid [2] The Hanging Gardens of Babylon [3] Statue of Zeus [4] Temple of Artemis [5] Mausoleum of Halicarnassus [6] Colossus of Rhodes [7] Pharos (Lighthouse) of Alexandria. The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue that is over 100 feet tall and the Lighthouse in the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt was 350 feet tall. The construction of the lighthouse took more than 30 years and it was completed 247 years before Christ. It was completely gone by 1480 AD. It depends on where you get your info; I don’t think everyone agrees on the SEVEN WONDERS in the modern world but the list I choose goes like this: [1] The Channel Tunnel [connecting the UK and France] [2] CN Tower {Toronto} [3] The Empire State Building [4] The Golden Gate Bridge [5] Itaipu Dam {Paraná River, between Brazil and Paraguay} [6] Delta Works {Netherlands} [7] Panama Canal which Jimmy Carter gave away in the 80’s.

Now for the good stuff: Billy Graham’s list of GOD’S SEVEN WONDERS…

  1. THE WONDER OF HIS LOVE
  2. THE INCARNATION…God becoming flesh
  3. THE CROSS…Christ dying for our sins
  4. THE NEW BIRTH…Conversion via repentance and faith
  5. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT…love, joy, peace, etc.
  6. THE WONDER OF HEAVEN
  7. THE WONDER OF OUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

Hey, that is not a bad list. I guess if you wanted to you could make your own but I like Dr. Grahams. If you want to see further explanation about the seven wonders, you will find them on page 115-116 of Dr. Graham’s DAILY DEVOTIONAL Wisdom For Each Day. It is a good devotional; I highly recommend it.
