Grands Are Grand

Scripture

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

Grand children open a room in your heart that could not be unlocked by anyone else.

Some people fight aging but I for one see a lot of blessings in growing old and one of the real big ones is grand children. I’ve been a grand parent for 27 years and I have enjoyed almost every minute. I never knew my grand father on daddy’s side, he was killed in a logging accident when Daddy was 16 years old. I grew up with one grand daddy and two grand mothers. One of my grand mothers favored me highly; the other not so much but the grand daddy had no favorites. I don’t think he was real fun of children. I didn’t spend that much time with him and we were never close. I may be forgetting something and may the LORD forgive me if I am, but I never remember my grand daddy giving me anything other than advice. He never bought me a cold drink or a candy bar; let alone a hamburger. I am determined that my grands will not have those kind of memories.

There are just a couple of things I want to say about grand children. First of all, grand children are an inexpressible joy. I tell people: “You have to experience them; no one can adequately convey the joy they bring.” Parenting is hard work; grand parenting is easier and much more enjoyable. I must also point out that not everyone gets to have this experience: I know people who longed to be GP’s and it never happened. You would be shocked at the number of people who have said to me, when they get our December Digest with the grands pictured, “I wish I had a large family like you.” Although, I would have enjoyed more; I am thankful for the nine we have and I know folks who would be thrilled with one. Actually, I am ready for GREATS but Big Mama is content with GRANDS.

My philosophy of grand parenthood is simple: “Create as many good memories as possible.” When we go to the mountains I sometimes asks them this question: “What are we going to do today?” The answer is, “Create a good memory.” I don’t want to be remembered as some old cranky, crabby, complaining sour puss. I loved my grand parents and I enjoyed a good childhood but I have no desire to go back: I will take grand daddy over grand son any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I get amused at these GP’s who talk about missing their grands during the Chinese Virus hoax: I’ve seen more of ours than before. All my grand kids hate school and they loved being out of school and in Big Mama’s kitchen.

Wendell Holcolm, Kellie Sim’s dad has a complicated heart procedure today in HH, please pray for Wendell {Whitey}. Continue to pray for Tracy B. and her care givers.

Keith {Bathtub boy} Overman calls Trump supports maggots…I can’t find the clip but I saw it on Rick and Bubba this morning…He literally calls us maggots. He says Hillary was wrong, “Some Trump supporters are not deplorable, they are all deplorable.” He says the dems are going win by a landslide and then mop this country like a sponge, getting rid of all Trump supporters. One problem for bathtub boy, he would be getting rid of all the families that produce soldiers, policemen, first responders and far more than half of our medical doctors. He would destroy the tax base because Trump supporters are working people who pay taxes. The idiot has not thought his diabolical plan through. American can survive without Hollywood, the media and sports but we cannot survive with workers and warriors. The man is so stupid he is comical and nauseating all at the same time.

Thanks for your prayers…Have a great Day!
