What terror You inspire! Who can stand before You when You are angry?
~Psalm 76:7, Cloverdale
Quote
The bible never says God does not get angry; it says He is slow to get angry, but He can be provoked.
~Dana Ortlund
I got carried away by Psalm 76 verses seven and eight..No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before You when Your anger explodes? From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before You. The bible does not teach that God does not get angry; the bible teaches that God is slow to get angry, but He does get angry. Luke says in Hebrews 1:3, The Son [Jesus] radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. Paul said in Colossians 1:17, He [Jesus] existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.
Let me give you an illustration. John records Jesus cleansing the temple in chapter two of his gospel…Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables. Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” Let me remind you that the Sadduccees controled the temple and the priesthood and they hated Jesus. They had their own police so why was no effort made to stop Jesus? The answer is in Psalm 76, God’s anger can paralyze the strongest of men. I know what happened that day, all the temple guards, police, priest and even the rich and powerful Sadduccees were stunned. They had no strength to oppose Jesus. They didn’t even get in His way. The reason, Jesus was angry. When God is angry no weapon formed against Him will stand. Man before God’s anger is like wax before the noon day sun…they melted in fear and awe. They didn’t do anything because they didn’t have the strength.
When He returns, He will cleanse this world and no one will stop Him. No one will even oppose Him. God is not in a struggle to survive. He is not fighting for control: He is God and there is not a man or angel that can stand against Him. Hallelujah, what a Savior. There were some who enjoyed watching Jesus cleanse the temple; and there were some who didn’t. Which camp are you in?
Our God is an awesome God!

I would be a fool to complain; we got a half inch of rain. I was in the garage grilling chickens so I got to see the whole thing and I loved it. It was not enough to end the drought or raise the water table but it will help and we have cooler weather coming. The yard around the Eastern Gate building is covered with leaves; it looks like October. Another praise for the outdoor service. I loved every minute. Doug got those hallelujah horns going. He sang two of my favorites. I’ve been singing HE WHISPERS SWEET PEACE TO ME for the last 24 hours. There was only one problem, it was a little too warm so I think we are going to move our 2025 outdoor service to Columbus Day Weekend instead of Labor Day.
Courtney Taylor got to come home yesterday but is not doing good. She has been in pain lately and having BP issues. Pray for Courtney, Shannon, Billy and the boys.
I hope you got some rain. Have a good day and week. Thanks for reading the blog.
