Help Us LORD {adiuva nos Domine}

Scripture

“Grant us Your help against the enemy, for vain is the help of man.”

Psalm 60:11, Coverdale

Quote

“Success is moving from one failure to the next without loss of enthusiasm.”

~Winston Churchill

David never lost a battle as a general leading his troops into combat, but while he was engaged in the north, the Edomites got bold and decided to invade from the south. David’s troops in the south were not prepared and they got annihilated.  This sent shock waves throughout Israel. They were staggering like drunks who had gotten into some bad wine. David prayed {Psalm 60} and then he sent Joab and his army to attack the Edomites. The Edomite rebellion was crushed.

I like David first response and his confession. David knew that the victory was in trusting the LORD so he prayed, “Grant us YOUR help against the enemy, for vain is the help of man.” My hats off to David. You couldn’t ask for a better response. How does this relate to us? In one of my bibles, I had written in the margin…Man is no match for the tyrants that lurk in our flesh–pride, envy, greed, lust, fear and many more. We are certainly no match for Satan. Like David, we need divine intervention. We need help from above. As David prayed in verse 5, “Save us by Your Right Hand.” Right Hand is code for Jesus. It may not be true in every case, but most of the time in Psalms the RIGHT HAND is a reference to Jesus.

We are no match for the enemy but our Warrior King, the Blessed Lord Jesus is…He always has been IS…and He always will be IS.

Got a mission project in Lawrence County today. It is been a busy week. Some chance of rain today and we need it. The LORD didn’t intend us to have a garden this year.  Even the cantaloupes have died from lack of rain. I had our pumpkins where I could water them but the ground hogs ate them. Even some of my pepper plants have died.

I’ve been invited to Hillsdale College the last week of September for a Seminar on God in American History. I have not decided. I have until September 13 to register. I am giving it serious consideration.

God bless you and I hope you have a great Friday and good weekend. Thanks for reading the blog.
