Ignorance: Blist or Fact

Scripture

I was ignorant and lacked insight; I was as senseless as an animal before you.

~Psalm 73:22, NET

Quote

“We don’t know one-millionth of one percent about anything.”

~Thomas Edison

A lot of things happen as you grow older and one of those things is the awareness of your ignorance. I don’t guess anything is more amazing than God’s grace but man’s ignorance is running a close second. I am in complete agreement with Thomas Edison. The LORD said to Isaiah, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways; For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Mankind can and does boast about his knowledge: we have made some marvelous inventions and our technology is mind boggling to a simple person like me but I still agree with Edison. We have advanced far beyond what most imagined in science, medicine, industry, communication and space travel but what is that compared to the mind of God. All of our knowledge combined is less than a drop in the bucket. If we all had minds like Edison and Einstein, it would still weigh less than dust of the scales of His infinite knowledge. The finite will never comprehend or out wit the Infinite.

Just think about it: How does God see hidden motives? How does He detect pride, greed, jealously and lust which is hidden in the deep recesses of our heart? Think about it; there are over seven billion of us and yet He knows all our sin. How could He create our brains to think, reason, imagine, dream with a steady stream of subconscious thoughts that flow through our minds framing more thoughts? Have you every suffered a fall due to your own pride? It may not have been something you said or anything you did but you had a proud thought and you did not rebuke it. Have you ever despised another human; perhaps less fortunate than yourself, and you said in your heart, “Thank God I’m not like them.” Have you ever looked upon a failed marriage and said in your heart, “That will never happen to me.” You do not have to articulate your proud thoughts for HIM to take notice. How does He read our minds? How does He know the future? How can He raise the dead from the dust of the earth? How can He have no beginning and no end? Asked your educated liberal friends this last question. They have no answer. The truth is, none of us have the slightest clue. I’ve been praying all my life and yet I admit, I don’t really know how to pray. Paul said to the Colossians, “I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.  I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Our great need in to know Christ and to understand that He knows everything else.

Today is a travel day for our YOUTH. They leave for home about 9:00 am. I think the final tally on POF’s was 14 and Josh believes that some of them will be willing to share with us on Wednesday night and maybe a couple more on Sunday. Of course, we had a big hole in our tiny congregation yesterday with the YOUTH being gone but we had a good service. I am leaning toward something patriotic this Sunday–God and Country kind of thing.

Len Haygood, the man I visited Saturday passed away yesterday. He and his wife Marie had been attending outdoor services. Pray for Marie, she is really grieving her loss. Continue to pray for Mrs. Edith Bennich who had a better day yesterday.

Well, we are about to embark on the last week of June which will mark the end of the first semester of 2021. I do not see how the years can get any faster. Life is definitely like a moving shadow. I hope you have a great day and a great week.
