Isaiah’s Portrait of The Millennium

Scripture

Then justice will rule through all the land, and out of justice, peace. Quietness and confidence will reign forever more.

I enjoy reading Isaiah almost as much as I do the Psalms. Yesterday I read Isaiah 32 which begins like this…“Look, a righteous King is coming.” The Jews had a messianic expectation but they were looking for a king and not a suffering servant who would bare the sins of the world. The Jews never envisioned the Messiah coming twice: first as the Suffering Servant and then secondly, as the reigning King. Even after the resurrection, the disciples expected Jesus to move right into phase two by establishing His Kingdom on earth. We Christians believe that Jesus will return and this time as the Lion of Judah and we believe He will establish some kind of kingdom on earth. We generally refer to this as the millennium. Isaiah 32 gives us a snap shot of the millennium.

[1] It will be ruled by a Righteous King {Jesus}. [2] The eyes of the Jews {Israel} will be opened. [3] Jews will have a hunger for God’s word {ready to listen}. [4] Hotheads will be filled with sense and understanding. [5] Atheist will be downgraded, the world will frown on them. [6] Those who have cheated and defrauded others to gain wealth will be exposed {Soros}. [7] Hypocrites will be exposed. [8] Those who deceive with smooth talk will be exposed. [9] Those who oppress others will be brought to justice. [10] Those who lived care free lives will become caring. [11] Justice will rule. [12] Peace will reign. [13] Fear will be vanquished for the children of God. [14] Our enemies will be destroyed. [15] Our labor will become abundantly fruitful.

Not a bad world to live it, is it! I can look forward to a world like this!

Eddie gave me a little devotional to read between now and the election called IF MY PEOPLE. On day five there is a prayer by George Washington, the most indispensable man in American history. Washington was a gentle giant. The Indians referred to him as the “Great White Ghost,” because he would ride into battle and he was never mortally wounded. They didn’t think a bullet could kill him. Washington was a praying man, something you will not hear about on the news or in the class room. This prayer came from his prayer journal. I loved reading it and wanted to share it.

O eternal and everlasting God…increase my faith in the sweet promises of the gospel, give me repentance from dead works; pardon my wandering, and direct my thoughts unto Thyself, the God of salvation. Teach me how to live in Thy fear, labor in Thy service, and ever run in the ways of Thy commandments. Make me always watchful over my heart, that neither the terrors of conscience. the loathing of holy duties, the love of sin, nor the unwillingness to part this life cast upon me a spiritual slumber. Daily frame me more and more into the likeness of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, that living in Thy fear and dying in Thy favor, I may in Thy appointed time attain the resurrection of the just unto eternal life. Bless my family, friends and kindred.

I did get a brand new John Deere Tractor from Grace Point; matter of fact it came from one family. I looks exactly like the one I have, only a bit smaller. Actually, with one hint I got two new John Deere tractors. The first is made of plastic and the second is a picture. This man from DBC said he found the tractor for me but can’t remember where so he just sent me a picture. Yeah, right and I have some ocean front property in Limestone County. I’m not sure the pics are going to show up on the blog but I did post them.
