It Will Be Finished

Scripture

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

~John 4:34, NKJV

Quote

God has begun a good work and He will perfect it. He can do no other than what He has set His hand to do, for this is His nature.

~Watchman Nee {Table In The Wilderness}

As I was reading Watchman Nee and thinking about the quote above, two of my very favorite verses came to mind…{Philippians 1:6, 2:13} And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returnsFor God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. When Jesus uttered the words “It is finished,” He was referring to the work of atonement. The work of atonement is a finished work, nothing can be added, but our sanctification is not a done deal. The LORD is still working on us.

Paul said in the letter to Ephesians, For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Think of God as the Artist and we are the painting or sculpture. He does not hurry but slowly and surely He is making us into the likeness of Christ, yet we will retain our personality. He will make us perfect or holy by the power of His grace. Perhaps you are thinking, “I just don’t see how He can make you holy.” They are times when I have doubts myself, but nothing is impossible with God and I do believe He will finish what He has started and I believe in the end He will be pleased with His work. Who knows, He may stand me on the corner of one of the streets in heaven and have people come by…they will be saying something like, “Wow, is that really you Jack?” Then they will tell Jesus, “I can’t believe what you’ve done with Jack.”

Extra

The grass did grow while we were away and I have a door to fix, but I’m not complaining. I am thrilled to be home and looking forward to communion on Sunday.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
