Scripture
All the days of the afflicted are bad, but one with a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

I think about John D. Rockefeller’s grandsons. He put them to work on the oil rigs in Oklahoma under pseudonymous names. At the end of the day, the boys were covered with dirty, grimy oil and you could only see the whites of their eyes and teeth but these boys had fun in their work. They whistled, sang and make jokes through the day. Their foreman knew who they were but no one else had that information. Some of the other workers began complaining about the boys jocularity, saying it was not natural. The foreman could hold his silence no longer and he said, “You would be singing to if you knew that someday all these oil wells would belong to you.”
Let me ask you a question? If some multi-millionaire promised you a million dollars, could you celebrate the promise? His promise was to give it sometime in the future but he doesn’t tell you when. It all depends, doesn’t it, on whether or not you believe he is trustworthy. If you believe he is, you can begin the celebration now! the Bible promises us that we will be joint-heirs with Jesus. Do you believe the Bible is trustworthy? If you really believe, you are celebrating already.
I love George W. Truett stories. George knew what most preachers learn in ministry and dealing with people: not all, but most rich people are very proud of their possessions. They cannot help but talk about their accomplishment and accumulation. Truett visited the home of a rich oil barren in Texas. He lived in a mansion that had a tower. The rich man carried pastor Truett up into the tower and pointed to the west…“You see all those cattle and all that land and all those oil wells; as far as you can see, I owe that.” He had Dr. Truett look in all four horizontal directions and made the same boast. At this point, I would have drew a blank but Truett was a brilliant man: he pointed up toward heaven and said, “How much do you owe up there?” The riches I have cannot be stolen or diminished and death will enhance them, not separate me from them. We must have pity on those who do not understand this truth. This means that some of the most pathetic people on earth are filthy rich.
I hope you have a great day and a great weekend. Thanks for reading the blog.
