One King, Many Noblemen and A Multitude of Subjects

Scripture

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

~1 Corinthians 2:26, NKJV

Quote

There is not the meanest, the weakest, the poorest believer on the earth but that Christ prizes him more than all the world.

~John Owens

When I was young and idealistic, I dreamed of being a great person, highly successful in my field. Of course reality set in and there was a period of disillusionment, but even then, I rationalized that I had not be given a fair chance. I don’t remember how old I was when the LORD revealed the truth to me, but it was a blessing I have not forgotten. As I was listening to John Bunyan’s book GRACE ABOUNDING TO THE CHIEF OF SINNERS, some new thoughts came to mind. In a kingdom, there is only one king. He is surrounded by his courtiers and noblemen which could number into the hundreds, but the great portion of his kingdom is made up of subjects, sometimes referred to as commoners or peasants. The LORD in His grace and over time has a way of adjusting our thinking. I have no desire to be the king and I am not cut out to be a nobleman. I am a happy peasant. This is not a pretence of humility, it is an honest confession. Take my word, I am no where close to being humble. In quiet conversation and contemplation, the LORD convinced me that He decides who will be great. If the LORD  wanted me to be an Adrian Rogers or a Charles Stanley, He would have made me one. I fully believe that if He wanted me to be a millionaire, I would be one. Nothing is impossible with Him. We’ve all seen churches that had too many chiefs and not enough Indians. It is not a pretty sight. God does not intend for all of us to be a king or a nobleman, a Paul, John or Simon Peter. There were nine other disciples that made up the early church but it was Peter and John who got all the ink. The book of Acts actually features two primary characters: Peter and Paul with John sharing the spotlight with Peter in the first five chapters. What about Matthew or the good Judas? What about Simon the zealot or Nathaniel? Were they unimportant to the work of the church?

Jesus loved all the disciples but He groomed Peter and John to be their leaders. I don’t have a problem with His decision. I am elated, yeah thrilled to serve a small country church. I do not want a T.V. ministry. There are ways to promote the blog, but I choose not to use them for two reasons: they cost money and I don’t want the extra attention. If my blog went viral, the left would be on me like ugly on an ape. I don’t want to deal with the left. I love being a tiny frog in a huge pond. I can do and say what I please and I don’t have to worry about it. Adrian Rogers and Charles Stanley did not have that freedom. No one wants my books and they have already destroyed my tapes {28 years of preaching through the Bible} recorded by my good friend Gregg. Our life work is somewhere in the Morgan County landfill. Hey, it may have been the best thing that ever happened. Trust me, I am politically correct these days compared to those. I am not going to help millions, but there is just as much joy in helping a dozen as there is in helping a million. It is liberating to understand your calling. Jesus is the Artist. He decides how He wants the piortrait to look. Trust the Artist and be content with what pleases Him.

Back to the dentist this morning. I had a little tooth ache last night but it is much better. June wants it checked out. Sprinkles just a little yesterday evening but not enough to settle the dust. They did get a good rain south of Danville.  I could see the storm at a distance but it avoided us. One thing is sure, no one other than the LORD knows what the weather will do. I try not to think about it.

I began blogging in July of 2009 and for years I blogged seven days a week. All total there is close to 5,000 post and we have had a little over 1.5 million hits. I have started my review and below is one of my first post. If you are one of those who don’t think I have tamed down, read this…

July 31, 2009…BLUE DOG DEMOCRATS

I’ve being hearing a lot about Blue Dog Democrats; I thought democrats were yellow dogs. But I suppose there is a difference. Yellow Dogs will vote for any democrat, no matter what they stand for. They vote the party line no matter what. Unfortunately, these narrow minds liter our church rolls and many of them profess to be Christian which they cannot be and support abortion on demand. I don’t know what bible they are reading or savior they are trusting but it certainly not Jesus. Jesus is not only pro-life, He is LIFE itself. Everytime we murder one of these babies, we sin against the Lord Jesus Christ. The Blue Dog is more of a hypocrite because they pretend to be conservative. Conservative democrat, that is an oxymoron, like pretty ugly, exact estimate, virtual reality, found missing, great depression, comfortable kneebrace or Swiss Army. In other words folks, there is no such thing as a conservative democrat. Zeb Miller was the last of that bred and they kicked him out of the party two decades ago. If these 58 so called Blue Dogs are so conservative, let them explain how their running as democrats enabled Nazi Pelosi  to become speaker of the house. She is as dangerous as Obama. Let me tell you what burns my cookies, one of these blue dogs represents the 5th District and he got elected because the Democrats and the spinless Republicans redrew the 5th District lines taking out Morgan County. Not the cities [Hartselle and Decatur] but the rural precincts like Neel which is where I vote. Griffin could not have won otherwise and the republican whimps in Washington did not even put up a fuss. Lately, I have felt like I was on a roller coaster. One day I hear that Obama care is going pass and then next day, I hear that its in trouble. Yesterday, Mike Church said its a done deal, today Sean Hannity said, the presidents numbers are down and the demos are running scared. I’m still worried because Obama has the media in his pocket and unfortunately, Americans watch too much TV. We have to admit that the man has accomplished more in terms of decieving voters and destroying our Republic than you and I ever dreamed was possible. We cannot underestimate him and we dare not overestimate the integrity of the media. I cannot watch TV news. I don’t have the stomach for it; people like Alan Combs who never had an original thought in his life: he is nothing but a liberal parrot and then there is Chris Tinkle Matthews, Jimmy the loser Carters infamous speech writter [no wonder Reagan clobbered him]. Matthews by his own admission, get the tingles when Obama speaks. Lets us not forget the biggest idiot of the all, that would be Keith Bathtub Boy Ogreman [no, that is not a misspell]. These libs make me want to crochet barbed wire or bit a 20 penny nail in two. One other thing while I am venting. Practically everytime I get on the highway, I see one of the DOT troopers giving some poor old truck driver a ticket. Way to go Bob Riley. That will help our economy. Why don’t we make it as hard as we can on small businessmen who are trying to scratch out a living. What do Bob Riley and Richard Shelby have in common? They are both democrats masquerading as republicans. Wouldn’t Alabama be better off if our Governor had as much passion for stopping drug traffic as he does for stopping truck drivers for every picky little detail and then giving them a ticket for $1400. I feel better now but I’d feel a lot better if we could get Nazi Pelosi, Obama, and Riley out of office.

I don’t think this one is a keeper!
