Operation Rescue

Scripture

Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don’t stand back and let them die. Don’t try to disclaim responsibility by saying you didn’t know it. For God, who knows all hearts, knows yours and He knows you knew.

~Proverbs 24:11-12, NLT

Quote

In this life, we are called to share in His suffering: in the life to come, we will share in His glory.

~Randy Alcorn

Randall Terry

You probably don’t recognize the name or the photo of Randall Terry and no, he is not from Lawrence County. He is a pro-life activist who stirred the nation in the 1980’s with his OPERATION RESCUE, which was inspired by the above verses in Proverbs. Operation Rescue was massive demonstration of civil disobedience where thousands of Pro-lifer’s blocked the doors to Abortion Clinics. It was not a violent movement and those who participated understood that they would go to jail and they did go peacefully. Of course, it created a nightmare for the police and the courts. It made the nation more aware of what was going on which is a good thing but it stirred up the cultural elites. It wasn’t long until the National Organization of Lesbians, working with the courts, found a way to use the RICO law against Pro-Life demonstrators. The RICO [Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations] was passed in 1970 to discourage organized crime. Basically, it triples the fine for racketeering and especially extortion. For example: if you were sued for $100,000 in damages, under RICO you would be awarded $300,000. The Libs kept this threat alive for 17 years before the Supreme Court and Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist shot it down as unconstitutional.

Randy Alcorn

You will probably recognize this name, Randy Alcorn. Randy was a participant in OPERATION RESCUE and was sued by one of the abortuary’s {death clinics} near Portland, Oregon. Randy became one of the first victims of the misuse of RICO but he was ahead of the game. Before his trial, he gave away all his possession and by the time the courts demanded money, his net worth was $12, his inexpensive wedding ring. The court was outraged and so they garnished his wages which involved the church he served. I’m not sure, the Web sight I was reading did not let me finish the story, but I think he resigned the church to save them from the scandal. If you have read his books, you probably know more than I do about his testimony. His books are great. The Treasure Principle will probably be a classic. I would not mind having his entire library. Most of his books are about stewardship. My point is this: the man sacrificed everything in order to make people aware of what was going on in abortion clinics. Most Americans don’t really care and sadly, most professing Christians don’t seem to care. More shocking is that many professed Christians continue to support the democratic party which is pro-abortion. They support, fund and profit from the killing of innocent babies.

One local pastor told me some years ago...“Jack, you are going about this all wrong. Honey draws more flies than vinegar. When you say things like ‘Abortion is murder,’ you are just alienating people.” Don’t worry, I didn’t pay any attention to him. He reeks with vainglory. What is abortion if it is not murder? Abortion stops a beating heart and does it in a brutal way. What am I supposed to do, pat these indifferent compromising hypocrites on the back and tell them, “It’s OK to kill a baby.” People make fun of me for my position but I’m not really worried about what people think. That 8×14 billboard that stood in our front yard for years served a purpose. My kids didn’t like it and you may not have liked. There was one man in particular who didn’t like but he got the message, ABORTON IS MURDER. His son got a 16 year old pregnant and his first thought was, “I will pay for the abortion.” This was his plan, to influence is son to influence the girl to have the baby aborted. He told me himself…I was up all night and I kept seeing that sign...ABORTION IS MURDERby daylight I repented and now I have a beautiful granddaughter and I give thanks for her every day. I have a ton of regrets, the sign is not one of them.

I am going to stand before Christ in judgment, not you nor anyone else. I was driving back from Huntsville years ago, just after seeing several girls go into the clinic to have their babies terminated and Matthew 25:40 popped into my mind…“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ Every time we kill a baby, we are crucifying Jesus anew and afresh.

I made a visit at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital yesterday. It has been a while since I’ve been there. Joe David had surgery there 40 years ago. Well the SEC got done in by 3 pointers. I may not watch any more. I thought we would do better. Fuzz Dobbins is in the hospital. I saw him on Wednesday but didn’t get back that way yesterday.

  1. Amen, brother Jack amen. Do you remember back when I worked for Shelby and you wanted Jeremiah Denton back in, well I’ve changed since then quite a bit I’d say.
