Oppression

Scripture

You trample the poor, stealing their grain through taxes and unfair rent…I know the vast number of your sins and the depth of your rebellion.

~Amos 5:11-12, NLT

Quote

Oppression is unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power.

~Daniel Webster

Oppression is one of many words that the marxist; alias left, alias demos, have redefined. In this age of cultural marxism: oppression means one of two things–the unjust treatment of women or minorities. But this is a very narrow and twisted view of oppression. Persecution of Christians is a form of oppression but you never hear that mentioned. There is no such thing as social justice. There is only one justice and that is God’s justice. He is the only moral being capable of discerning and establishing what is right and what is wrong. If God says it is right–then it is right but if He says it is wrong–then it is wrong. Of course, everyone on the left ignores the word of God.  Amos the prophet was from Judah but he went North to Israel to prophecy. He did what all prophets do: he called Israel out and denounced the nation for its sin. Amos begins his message with naming the sins of surrounding nations. Tyre was guilty of human trafficking. Edom was called out for being cruel and merciless. He denounced Ammon for their violence but for Israel it was oppression of the poor. Let me tell you what is amazing; Moses provided numerous safeguards in the law to provide for the poor and to keep them from being vulnerable and yet the Israelites {later Jews} were know for their exploitation of the poor and even the helpless. It was still happening when Jesus walked the earth: the Pharisees were foreclosing on widows and taking their houses. The Sadducees were even worse. They practiced the GOLDEN RULE, he who has the gold rules. I can assure you that the Sadducees are alive and well and they still ignore the plight of their own people.

You can’t turn on the nightly news without hearing about racial oppression or the oppression of women but you never hear anything about the oppression of the middle class. Our taxes were increased this year. After paying our annual fee of $30,000, we have to pay an additional $1,500. In the old days, the house of representatives came from the working class but not anymore. Lawyers and politicians fill those spots and there is no one in DC to represent middle America. This is why Trump was so popular; he related to average middle class working Americans. Many of the people who voted for Trump were not republicans; they were people from the disenfranchised middle class. A lot of these people had never voted before. When Trump made himself a friend to the working class it upset the Washington insiders, the career politicians and the embedded marxist. His slogan, “Make America Great Again,” was mud in their face. They don’t want America to be great. They want America to be poor like a third world country. Washington DC is a den of thieves. The tax system is a legal way for them to rob us of our wealth. Remember, they do not want you to be independently wealthy; they want you dependent on them.

So the irony is this–those who are screaming oppression on the nightly news are themselves the oppressors. They want to be rich at your expense. I listened to R.C. Sproul yesterday. I did not realize that he was into apologetics but he is very good. I would give you the link but I can’t remember the title. He has several YouTube lectures on the subject. Sproul debates atheist and he said something that I know to be true. He said, “I have never debated an atheist who honestly had an intellectual problem. I have told them repeatedly, they have a moral problem. They are angry and upset with God’s authority and rule over them.” I do believe this is the heart of our problem today. Jesus sums it up in His parable in Luke 19, But his people hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want him to be our king.’ I want Jesus to be my king but the world hates the thought of it.
