Orphans

Scripture

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”

~John 14:18, NASB

Quote

Orphan…a child deprived by death of one or usually both parents.

~Merriam-Webster

Sometimes it takes years for sin to run its course. James said, Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. It turns out that Baby Boomers, though spoiled with freedom and prosperity, are fortunate in the sense that our parents stayed married and took care of their parental responsibilities. The children the age of our grandchildren don’t have that testimony and it is taking a toll on them mentally, physically and emotionally. I am afraid we have yet to see the devastation that will come from this drug culture that we live in.

My point is this: there are millions of orphans: actually, they are all around us. Some of them have no one to look out for their interest so be aware in case you have the opportunity to help one of them. A lot of children these days are being raised by grand parents or in some rare cases, great grand parents. My children never went to Disney World, on a cruise or any extended vacation. Three days was all we could afford. None them had braces until they got grown and got them for themselves. Yet I over heard one of them say recently that she thanked God for not having all the spices of life because it had made her sensitive and had taught her to care for others. We have far too many FaceBook moms and absent dads. What kids need is parents who are there for them. Trips, pictures, gifts don’t make up for being absent. They need YOU, not your stuff. Do you know how kids spell love–TIME. Spend time with them! Spend time on them. It is an investment you will not regret.

I have a praise already: I forgot and left my water on at my office building and PTL it did not freeze and it got down to 26. I am thrilled: I don’t like to plumb in good weather, let alone this stuff. There was an adage in Jesus day, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” We need to change that: “Can anything good come out of Washington D.C.?” The best thing coming out of Washington is I-66.
