Price Of Redemption

Scripture

They trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches. Yet these cannot redeem a person or pay his ransom to God—since the price of redeeming him is too costly, one should forever stop trying so that he may live forever and not see the Pit.

SALVATION is by grace alone, through faith alone and in Christ alone.

June reads Franklin Graham’s tweets and this is what he said Monday or at least a portion…I don’t know which 1,000 pastors this group surveyed, but the results are concerning; 39% of “evangelical” pastors surveyed recently said there is no absolute moral truth and that “each individual must determine their own truth.” What a lie. They also said, 30% of evangelical pastors do not believe that their salvation is based on having confessed their sins and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. Researchers also found that one-third or more of the senior pastors they surveyed said they believe that people can merit salvation based solely on their good works. These are all lies, and this kind of false teaching is what is leading people and churches astray. The Bible is God’s Word, from cover to cover. It is the absolute truth—we should live by it, and we can die by it. On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand.

I am in agreement with Franklin and I am convinced that many church attenders do not understand grace. People who believe in grace do not keep note books. They do not keep up with their good deeds. They don’t compare themselves to others. People who believe in grace understand, to some degree, their own depravity. People who understand grace are thankful. They know they deserve death and hell and are thankful for the forgiveness they have in Christ. Show me a miserable and complaining church attender and I will show you a person who believes in their own merit; at least to some degree. When will the truth sink in, the price of redemption is too high for we humans to redeem ourselves. It is not possible for you to save yourself. You can practice self-denial and even shed your blood but your blood will not cleanse. Your blood has no power because it is corrupt. Only the blood of Christ cleanses. Al Capone left the Catholic over ten million dollars to pray him out of purgatory. Evidently, Al never studies Psalm 49. You cannot redeem your soul with any amount of money nor can you even the slate with a list of good works. Your vain motive for wanting glory from your so called good works is enough to damn the entire universe.

Some folks don’t mean it when they sing, JESUS PAID IT ALL, ALL TO HIM OWE, Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. If you don’t believe that Jesus saves and keeps, you have not fully accepted God’s grace. You can’t do anything to earn it nor keep it. It is a gift of God and He is no Indian giver.
