Remember And Forget

Scripture

Afterwards, I will give them this covenant: I will embed my laws into their hearts and fasten my Word to their thoughts…I will not ever again remember their sins and lawless deeds!” So if our sins have been forgiven and forgotten, why would we ever need to offer another sacrifice for sin?
~Hebrews 10:16-18, TPT

How does the LORD forget our sin? I cannot forget my sin, nor the sins of others. Swindoll says our past is like an art gallery; as we stroll down memory lane we see vivid pictures of our childhood, our parents, our rearing, our heartaches, bumps and bruises, difficulties, dissappointments, and yes, our joys and triumphs. Few if any of us has a memory that does not include some inequities. Perhaps we were treated unfairly or became the object of mockery and ridicule. It is even possible that we know the pain of betrayal or rejection. The memory is both a blessing and a curse. My tendency is to remember what I need to forget. How many times do certain memories pop up and I think to myself, “I wish I could forget this happened.” I wish I could forget all the stupid things I have done. I wish I could forget the inequities. My inequities are small to others, yet they are huge to me. I have made it a rule not to discuss them with others in fear of their misunderstanding or pure indifference. In either case, it would only make matters worse.

As a believer in Christ, I try to discipline my mind to think on the good, to count the blessings rather than to dwell on the bad memories. I do believe that we can become so obsessed with our hurts and the resentment they produce, that we can become a negative or bitter person. No one likes a negative, fault finding, critical, judgmental people. We do our best to avoid them. Since I prefer not to be avoided, I try to make the QUOTE above my rule. Note the word “try.” I have not mastered the art, but I can say this, “the good done to me far outweights the bad.” Yes, I have had some people say and do hurtful things to me and in many cases it was malicious. They intended to hurt me. Of course I have too much pride and I have always been determined not to let my feelings show. In other words, I didn’t want the offender to know that he or she had achieved their goal. As I age, the cream comes to the top. I remember the kind deeds and the unkind things are fading. At the end of the day, kindness wins. I thank God for His blessings.

I love that song that Griggs Rose and Elvis use to sing, I ASKED THE LORD…Dale still sings it. He sang it a couple of weeks back and knocked it out of the park…

I thank the Lord for everythingI count my blessings each dayHe came to me when I needed HimI only have to prayAnd He’ll come to youIf you’ll ask Him toHe’s only a prayer away

It has been cool every morning this week. I enjoy the walk to my office but by the time I come out, it is warm, and really warm in the garden. Lord willing, I will be plowing some today. I am looking for a front tiller that is chain driven {second hand}. I will trade a Cub Farmall for it. It runs but has no brakes and the governors do not work.

Blake is home and happy. We ran by to see him last night. He is thrilled to be home. I was told that Brenda Brooks was in River City but they told me they had no Brenda Brooks. I would appreciate more info in anyone has it.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.

Our Guatemala team leaves Guatemala City at 1:06. The should get into Huntsville around 9:00 tonight.
