Repentance

Scripture

But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

~Luke 13:3, NIV

Quote

Fallen man is not simply and imperfect creature who needs improvement: he is a rebel who must lay down his arms.

~C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis did not consider himself a bible scholar, only a layman. With that in mind, what am I to consider of myself? In Chapter four of Mere Christianity he had a very insightful section on “repentance.” I have been thinking a lot about repentance these days. It seems to come up in my study and thoughts on a regular basis. Lewis does not mention the Prodigal Son but he came to mind when I read chapter four. Repentance demands a willingness to submit; actually a willingness to suffer humiliation and even a kind of death. Simply stated, it is a willingness to go back. Many want to be restored without going back {repentance}. When the prodigal came to his senses he said to himself, “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father.” Had he not went back, his father would not have taken him back. It was his turning back to the father that gave the father the opportunity to take him back.

Until a person has this change of mind, there can be no restoration. This is why Jesus said emphatically…You either repent or you perish. As it is with all of Jesus teachings, there is only two ways: right or wrong, good or bad, repent or perish. The left is intense in establishing a gray area where things are neither right or wrong, moral or immoral but they don’t get this damnable doctrine for Scripture or Jesus. With Jesus it is always black or white, good or evil and there is no in between. Jeremiah said of the Jews, O Lord, you are looking for truth. You have tried to get them to be honest, for you have punished them, but they won’t change! You have destroyed them, but they refuse to turn from their sins. They are determined, with faces hard as rock, not to repent. Is this an apt description of someone you know or love? When I read it, I saw a face. Unfortunately, it describes the great majority of Americans. We need REVIVAL but we refuse to repent.

I am learning how to post from my I-Pad. Don’t know how to make font bigger. Holly got us watching Victoria which was aired on Public Education and we got to last episode and then the funny boys showed up, they locked up before June could fast forward. Unbelievable!

The Error of the Pharisees and the Sadducees

Sadducee Update

Michael Bloomberg has spent over 16 million in Florida to buy votes for Biden. He did this by paying off the debts of 31,000 felons who were not going to be able to vote otherwise. Does Bloomberg hate Trump or what! The Sadducees came after Jesus and they are coming after us. That hate Jesus and they love money and power.
