Seeing And Hearing God

Scripture

Speak, for your servant is listening.”

~1 Samuel 3:10, CSB

Quote

God is constantly whispering to us; only we do not hear because of the noise.

~ F.W. Faber

The spirit of business, hurry and rush are enemies to our devotional or quiet time. You cannot rush God. Unless it is a real emergency, it is best not to rush. Schedules, deadlines, noise, hurry, distractions are all harmful to a good quiet time and they certainly hinder our ability to commune with God. Many of us clamor for God to speak to us but we will not sit still and listen long enough to hear His still small voice. You can see your reflection in the placid water of a calm lake but turbulent waters do not reflect anything. When I read this statement in the STREAMS IN THE DESERT, I was immediately convicted. I love it when the inspirational juices are flowing and I am frantically making notes so that I do not forget what God is saying but unfortunately, that does not happen every time I enter the quiet place. You cannot be in a hurry and have a meaningful quiet time. We can not rush and then expect God to speak. We sure can’t expect Him to shout to us over all the noise around us. I desperately want God to speak to me and I am willing to slow down, even stop all activities if necessary.

EXTRA

Another good weekend, thank You LORD!. We had great attendance at the Point in spite of the rain. I was thrilled. My yard needs cutting but I am not going to worry about it. The one thing you don’t want to do is cut a wet yard with a Gravely. I hope you have a great week and thanks for reading the blog.
