Social Justice

Scripture

So from that day on they plotted to kill Him.

~John 11:53, CSB

Quote

There has never been in the history of mankind a greater miscarriage of justice than in the arrest and execution of Jesus.

~John W. Lawrence

I set aside some books the other day that I want to read again or finish. Some of them I started but did not finish and one of them is entitled THE SIX TRAILS OF JESUS. I began reading and realized immediately, this book was for me. I had never heard of Alfred Edersheim who was a 19th century Jewish historian who converted to Christianity. No one understands the bible like a messanic Jew; they have insights that we can’t match. According to Edersheim, Jesus was tried right after He raised Lazarus from the dead and the meeting is recorded in John eleven…

Some Pharisees were told about Jesus raising Lazarun from the dead. So they went to the chief priests and they convened the Sanhedrin. The agenda… “What are we going to do since this man [Jesus] is doing many signs? If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” Caiaphas, said “You know nothing at all! You’re not considering that it is to your advantage that one man should die for the people rather than the whole nation perish.” So from that day on they plotted to kill him.

It is easy to see what is going on. The Sadduccees like Annas and Caiaphas and the chief priest are worried that they will lose their power. The Romans have given them limited authority that allows them to run the Temple which is a money making racket for the Sadduccees. So they call the Council {Supreme Court} together and have an emergency meeting. They try Jesus and find Him guilty and He has not been arrested, or tried before the court. In the days following the resurrection of Lazarus to Passover, the Sanhedrin which is suppose to uphold the law, breaks every law in the book. [1] They have clandistine meetings outside the court room. Meetings before the meeting to line up their ducks. It comes right out of the devil’s playbook. Unfortunately some Baptist follow the practice. [2] They meet privately, closed session, excluding the public all together. I wonder if they invited Nicodemus and Joseph. I am fairly certain, they did not. [3] They convene in the dark, early hours of the morning. Edersheim believes between 2:30 a.m. and daylight. This too was illegal. [4] Jesus was not given due process. They passed judgment on Him before He was arrested or before He stood before them in court. Edersheim believes everything from His arrest to His execution took place in less than seven hours. He was crucified at 9:00a.m. They were working with a tight window so that Jesus could be executed before anyone figured out what was going on. These preachers who talk about the crowd turning on Jesus are full of bologna. The crowd before Pilate crying out “Crucify Him,” was under the control of the priest. The Greek word for these folks means rabble, the homeless, street people, pick pockets, etc. If you will read the book of Acts carefully, you will learn that the Jews had a gift of igniting riots which is what intimidated Pilot. [5] They paid the betrayer 30 pieces of silver which is strictly prohibited in the Old Testament. So much for social justice. As you can see, Social Justice is based on the agenda of rich and powerful and has nothing to do with truth or biblical justice.

Nothing reveals the holiness of Christ more than the cross and nothing reveals the depravity of man more than the way Jesus was treated between His arrest and and execution. When the KING returns, those who have refused to repent of their part in His death will pay, and pay dearly. I would not want to be among them.

The Temps are a little cooler PTL but they have taken the rain out of the forecast but they don’t know what it is going to do; only God knows. Without a tropical storm between here and the equator, we will not get much rain between now and November. I just hope the water table gets restored in November and December. I’ll have to cut the ditches this week but our yard still doesn’t need mowing and it has been two months since I cut it.

We did some of our visiting yesterday and will do more today plus get ready for Proverbs 3:13-35–Wisdom and Blessings, Wisdom and Daily Guidance, and Wisdom and Relationships.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
