Stewardship of Words

Scripture

The man of few words and settled mind is wise; therefore, even a fool is thought to be wise when he is silent.

~Proverbs 17:27-28, TLB

It is impossible to get a conversation going when everyone is talking too much.

~Yogi Berra

I heard a little poem when I was a kid and it stuck in my brain: “A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he seen the less he spoke. The less he spoke the more he heard, why can’t we be like this wise old bird?” For days now, Timothy Keller’s devotional on Proverbs has been dealing the the stewardship of words. Of course, I am guilty of talking too much. So I want you to know up front that what I am about to share has already convicted me. Not everyone is guilty of talking too much. Vellene Tanner is a good example and I have a friend is Cherokee named Roy Woodard who is a great example. So there are some who choose their words wisely and than there are those of us who just blurt them out. The following comes from a man named Tremper Longman and the Expositor’s Bible Commentary. THE MORE YOU SAY…

[1] The more we say, the more likely our words may be used against us at a later time.

[2] The more we say, the less we listen.

[3] The less we listen, the less we learn.

[4] The more we say the less people listen to us.

[5] The more we say, the more apparent it is that we don’t really know our subject. The wiser we are on the subject, the simpler and briefer our words.

[6] The more we talk, the more apparent it is that we lack self-control.

There are a couple of differences between a politician and a statesman. A politician is always thinking about the next election: a statesman {Churchill or Reagan} is thinking about the next generation. A statesman has something to say and there is something is what he says: a politician can talk for hours and say absolutely nothing. They have the gift of gab. They use gab to cover their ignorance and duplicity. Some preachers are guilty of the same thing. Mean what you say and say what you mean: just do not be mean in saying it. Paul said, “Speak the truth in love.”

Praise the LORD for a great rain. We had wind with our rain and it laid about a third of our sweet corn on the ground but we needed the rain so I am not complaining.

USA Today says it is a conspiracy theory started by evangelical Trump supporters but just do your own research on adrenochrome. Many Hollywood elites are involved in it. It is a powerful drug and is also used in cosmetic surgery. It comes from the skin, organs, adrenaline of children, tortured children. The web of horror involved the abduction and torture of children. In some cases it involves the death of the child. Mel Gibson spoke out about it recently. Someone told me that Fox News mentioned it recently. WayFair Furniture company has been accused of being involved in the child trafficking. The names I saw connected to this ring were Ellen Degenerate, Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey and the Clintons. It is very disturbing.

Hope you have a great week and thanks again for reading the blog.
