There is no pleasure in sin once you understand the consequences.
~Ya’akov
When we moved here 20 plus years ago, there was a pretty flower that bloomed each spring all across the back yard fence. It has a purple flower and a fragrant scent. This is your first impression. It is called wisteria and in truth, it is a super aggressive vine that will run unseen across your lawn and get in your trees. Holly’s back yard was filled with dead trees, victims of the clinging vine. Some of the vines were more than eight inches thick. I am telling you, get rid of it ASAP. It will bring down a giant oak. The vine runs to the top of your tree and then begins to hang down. While you admire the beauty of the flower, you are not aware of the size, strength and weight of the vine. Eventually, it smothers your tree. If you want to see a case in point, pay me a visit. My neigbor will not allow me to cut her’s down. Its tentacles run under the grass from one tree to another. You can cut the leaf of the vine with your mower but woe unto him who gets the vine in the mower; it is like rope. Your mower will not cut it.
Sin is like the clinging vine. It may appear attractive for a time but eventually, it will bring you down no matter how big you are. David was a king and sin brought him down. Sin is heavy: it creates a burden. This is why David prayed in Psalm 39:8, “Save me from being overpowered by sin.” He said in Psalm 38:3-4, “My body is sick. My health is totally broken because of Your anger, and it is all due to my sin. I’m overwhelmed, swamped, and submerged beneath the heavy burden of my guilt. It clings to me and won’t let me go.” Wow! Is this not crystal clear; the man who wrote most of these beloved Psalms is sharing his personal testimony. We need to heed his warning. Just look at the highlighted words: this is what sin will do.
In the same Psalm David said, “I’m slipping away and on the verge of a breakdown, with nothing but sorrow and sighing. I confess all my sin to you; I can’t hold it in any longer. My agonizing thoughts punish me for my wrongdoing; I feel condemned as I consider all I’ve done. So don’t forsake me now, Lord! Don’t leave me in this condition. So don’t abandon me LORD. Save me! For you’re my Savior and my only hope!”
This blog doesn’t need any commentary. By the way, my neighbor’s oak tree cannot save itself. I can save it with a chain saw and roundup or the LORD can strike with with a disease or by lightening but left to itself, the oak has no hope.

Thank You Jesus for the wonderful rain. I don’t have a gauge but we got a gulley washer. Jackson and I rode around yesterday morning and Kurt’s wheat looks great and so does Jeff’s garden. I am looking for tomato plants if anyone knows where I can get some that do not cost 5$ plus.
Got a text from Bill last night. Ken had to have another tube inserted and will be at Vandy for at least another week. The kids are discouraged.
Josie, Myless and the DHS girls soccer team got put out of the regional last night. The team did win 18 games and had a chance to break their record which is twenty but it was not meant to be. We outscored them 3-1 in first half but we run out of gas, and they scored 3 in the second half and we had none. I guess we get a break from sports unless Ryder has a Spring game. The Chloe Bug is counting the days until she is out of school. If you didn’t know better, you would think she is doing time in prison.
Looks like a beautiful day and I hope you have a great one. Thanks for reading the blog.
GRACE POINT: we get into Theology tonight and Saturday is INSULATION DAY and it begins at 8:00 am. You could use gloves, a staple gun if you have a good one, and sheetrock knives. Don’t worry about the tools if you don’t have them. We may end up with more tools than workers.
