The Devil You Say

Scripture

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

~Matthew 4:1, NLT

Quote

Temptation cannot be avoided, but because we cannot prevent the birds from flying over our heads, there is no need that we should let them nest in our hair.

~Martin Luther

Can a good and honorable man be tempted by the devil. The above verse answers this question. No human being is immune from temptation; even Jesus was tempted. Actually, the devil doesn’t change; he tempted Eve to be as God and this is the basic temptation for mankind today. Isaiah summed it up in chapter 53, “All we like sheep have gone astray, we have all turned to our own way.” I heard a man say once, “My wife has only one weakness, she wants everything her way.” His wife was not an exception to the rule, she is the rule: this is everyone’s weakness. Fyodor Dostoevsky was a Russian novelist who lived in the 19th century. He is to the Russians what C.S. Lewis is to the English. In his lengthly novel THE Brothers Karamazov {776 pages}, Ivan has an encounter with the devil. In this dialogue between Ivan {an atheist} and the devil, this is some of what the devil says…

“One need only destroy the idea of God in mankind. Once mankind renounces God once and for all, the entire wall will fall in and of itself, and above all will be the former morality. Once the old moral order is destroyed, a new order will arise. People will come together in order to take from life all that it can give, but of course, for happiness and joy in this world only. Man will be exalted with the spirit of the divine, titanic pride and the man-god will appear. Man, his will and science no longer limited, conquering nature, experiencing a lofty delight that will replace all former hopes of heaven…When the new man is allowed to become god, there will be no law to restrain him. There is no law for god.”

Does this remind you of the Marxist who have been running this country.  Their goal is to destroy the concept of God, the holy, sovereign creator. To achieve their radical {insane} goals, morality must be abolished. What amazes me is that Dostoevsky died in 1881 which if my math is correct is 143 years ago. Evidently, he was familiar with Marxism.

Extra

I have not had much time this week so the above is an old blog that was never published. Sorry about that but it has been one of those weeks. David’s surgery went well and he should come home today. Jean Narrell got home last night late. Didn’t get discharged until 7:30. I am headed to Huntsville in a few minutes to check on Christy. Melanie Mitchell is flying home from Houston today.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.

PS: our internet has been off two or three times a day for the past two weeks. I have to post while it is on. It is aggravating, but a minor problem compared to some.
