Scripture
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
~Psalm 91:1, NIV

Doctors and medical science may add years to our life; but only Jesus can add life to the years.
~Warren W. Wiersbe
Paul told the Colossians, For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. Moses said, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Two of God’s names are found in Psalm 91:1, the Most High {Elyon} and the Almighty {El Shaddai}. When I read Psalm 91 yesterday, the word REST immediately caught my attention. The LORD is my refuge; my hidding place. I seek protection and rest under His wings. The Hebrew Temple had three main parts: Courtyard, Holy Place and Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was the symbol of God’s presence. To all Jews except the High Priest, it was a private place. No one dared enter except the High Priest. Dr. Wiesbe says this represents the believer’s hidden life; the life that no one sees other than the LORD Jesus our High Priest. When we enter this private place of communion and worship, no one is present except our faithful High Priest. He sees and hears us but no one else does.
Wiersbe says something else that is very interesting: The hidden life of worship and communion is what equips us for public ministry. The quiet place {Holy of Holies} is where we get our armor, strength, courage, wisdom, guidance and filling of the Spirit. How can we stand erect before men if we refuse to bow the head and knee in private to God? What if God limited our access to Him to one hour on Sunday morning? I would probably go nuts within a week. We all need corporate worship; we need the fellowship of the church, but we also need a private and daily quiet time.
If you don’t have a daily quiet time, make up your mind to begin one today. Don’t make excuses, make plans. You need a quiet place: it can be an office, a closet, or a tool shed. You must be alone. Aim small: do not try to take a giant step. Commit to five minutes; that would be a good start. Get a devotional and read at least one verse. Mediate on that verse and then pray. Don’t worry about time, it will take care of itself.
One other thing: God can humble us, but scripture always tells us to “humble ourselves,” so you might say God expects us to do so. A daily QT is a spiritual discipline. It is something God expects you to do. He can discipline you but you don’t want that, it is better that you discipline yourself. You can do it if you set your mind to it!

I would love to have two worship services per week but I can’t get our folks to turn out on Wednesday. Josh can get the young people but I can’t get the adults. Its a dream but I am running out of time. I don’t think we had more than 15 last night. A REVIVAL is the only thing that would make two worship services possible.
Put your jacket on: it is going to be cool today. Our onions look great; cabbage not so well; turnip greens pitiful and the potatoes are not up. LW I will cover them before the frost and freezing temps. We all knew more cold weather was coming. It happens every year.
Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog. Pray for our President! Pray for the sick!
