Scripture
“For I, Yahweh, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”
~Malachi 3:6, LSB

God does not change: His character does not change, His truth does not change, his purposes do not change. He is forever the same.

We called my Daddy’s mother mawmaw. She was born in 1890 and was promoted in 1992. I think my numbers are right. I know she lived to be 102. She lived in the most amazing century in human history. When Mawmaw was born, there was no electricity, let alone phones or radios. Yet she lived to see a man walk on the moon. She went from horse and buggy to jets. Well, I not sure she ever flew in a jet but she did fly with me a few times. A century earlier, we marveled at the invention of the telegraph but this last century lead to the invention of electricity, automobiles, planes, radio, T.V.,computers, cell phones and air conditioning just to name a few. We humans have accomplished much, there is no doubt about it, but with all this progress there remains things that we have not figured out. Billy Graham once said, “We can build the highest buildings, the fastest modes of transportation, the longest bridges–but we still can’t govern ourselves to live together in peace and harmony.” We seem to have no solution for drugs, crime, greed, lust or injustice. Our main problem is that we fail to recognize the source of the problem: SIN. America’s greatest problem is sin and our greatest need is Revival. Unfortunately, we humans are fickle and subject to change and not always for the better. I can tell you for a fact that America has changed drastically in the last 50 years.
Einstein taught us that everything in the universe is in a state of motion and change. It is called the law of Thermodynamics. Nothing remains the same. June showed me a picture of Ashley Judd a couple of nights ago; apparently she has been having plastic surgery. It was not an edifying sight. Beautiful young women become not so beautiful old women. Of course, my mother always said, “Beauty is as beauty does.” I think she was right but you get the point. We can’t keep young skin. My hands and arms are litered with blue and purple spots and my skin is paper thin. I got blood on my trousers yesterday. I was talking to a friend outside my office and I looked down and saw a red stain on my pants. I said, “I must be bleeding somewhere.” He said, “Yes, it is your arm.” Then he pointed out where the blood was coming from. Bottom line: you can fight change like Ashley Judd and some Baptist I know, or you can accept and go with the flow.
Here is the good news. There is one thing that does not change and that is our Creator/Redeemer. Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Our Savior does not change. He doesn’t need to change–He is perfect. He cannot progess or regress; He cannot become more holy or less holy; He cannot love you any more and He will not love you any less because He does not change. I heard someone the other day talking about the pentecostals oft refrain…GOD IS GOOD–ALL THE TIME…ALL THE TIME–GOD IS GOOD. It is good theology. God cannot cease to be good anymore than He can cease to be God.

We could hear thunder most of the day but we got no rain yesterday. I was praying for at least a shower but we didn’t get it. Busy day ahead with VBS at the POINT this evening. Picnic at 5:00 and brief business meeting afterwards.
I got some of my tomato plants from Billy Parker and they are Tommy-toes, the tiny tomatoes that you put in salad but they have a good taste. John Titan, one of our two year old greats loves them. He will eat 15 or 20 at a time. It is a sight for sore eyes. Speaking of eyes, I have cataract surgery in the morning at Huntsville. I am not real excited about it; June says they don’t put you to sleep. My question is how will they keep me still?
I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
