The Law And Grace

Scripture

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

~Matthew 5:17, NIV

Quote

The law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

~Paul of Tarsus

Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law,” and unfortunately, that is exactly what a lot of folks think. They have the erroneous idea that grace replaced the law. God’s grace and His law are two separate things and both are needed. The law is not a savior; it has never been a savior but it is a guide. God gave us the law, not to restrict us or to make our life miserable but to give life structure. He gave us the law because He loved us. Without law, life would be chaotic. This idea that the law is passé, archaic or out dated is not scriptural. Jesus did not teach this and He warned us not to teach it…Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The commandments are still in play…no other gods before Him, remember the Sabbath day, honor your father and mother...We cannot have abundant life without honoring these laws. Grace is not a license to sin or do as you please.

Jesus did not come to do away with the law, He came to incarnate it, to obey it perfectly which we could never do. By living a perfect life and dying an atoning death, He freed us from the curse of the Law which is death and hell. He did not free us from the Law itself. Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” His commandments and the Father’s are one in the same. Grace is not an enemy nor a rival to the law: grace enables us to please God. Grace gives us a spirit of obedience. The law gives us the structure, the standard and grace gives us help to meet the standard. I understand our sin and depravity but before Jesus is finished, He will present us spotless and without blemish. He will do that by the power of His grace and we will be conformed to God’s standard. He will not fail.

Well, the final four is set and no conference has more than one time in the finals. So much for the ACC putting four teams in the final four. They drew it up so that it could happen but it didn’t. June told me last night that Stephen Curry had signed a new deal with Under Armor due to Niki not allowing him to put scripture on his shoes during games. I did a little research and I think this is old news. I think it happened several years ago. Nothing Niki does surprises me. They are as Antichrist as the NFL. Come out from among them and be separate says the LORD. Don’t support those who hate our Savior.
