Scripture

The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.

Quote

Right and truth are greater than any power and all power is subject to the truth.

~Benjamin Whichcote

Joseph was not perfect, but by human standards, he was closer than most. Joseph was so highly gifted that humility was a problem but efficiency was not: he was a great administrator. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, his first Master is Potiphar, the head of Egypt’s Civil Service. Joseph did so well that Potiphar had him in charge of everything on his estate. Potiphar had no worries–Joseph handled everything. Potiphar couldn’t help but notice that God blessed every thing that Joseph did and so Potiphar prospered because of Joseph.

You have heard the old adage, “Hell hath no fury like a woman who has been scorned.” I’m not sure that Joseph was familiar with this proverb. Mrs. Potiphar put the eye on Joseph and was determined to rill him in. She didn’t hid her motive and he knew what she was up to so he started avoiding her. He made sure they were never alone together but one day she set him up. She had all the inside servants dismissed and Joseph didn’t know it. He comes in and she grabs him and rips off his loin cloth. Today that would be his fruit of the looms. He runs out leaving the evidence behind. When Potiphar comes home, she waves Joseph’s underwear in his face, “See what you’ve done [does this sound familiar guys]. You brought this Hebrew in here and he tried to rape me and would have had I not screamed.”

Of course, the heifer lied and her sappy hubby swallowed her lie hook, cork and sinker. Once again, a female outwits a male–shock–shock! But I don’t want to get into the male-female thing because we always lose. I want you to think about Potiphar and the wife ten years later. Ten years later, Joseph is the Prime Minister of Egypt. The only person above him is Pharaoh himself. Joseph signs Potiphar’s check and he is also the guy who decides if Potiphar gets a raise. How many times do you think Potiphar woke up with regret? My guess would be at least twice a week. He had the most valuable slave in the human race in his employ and he blew it. He may have even changed his name from Potiphar to Bluitt because he blew it.

It is a wonder that all women, and not just some, don’t hate Shania Twain for giving away some of their trade secrets. This is the song that makes me laugh…I love it.

Am I dreamin’ or stupid? I think I’ve been hit by cupid,
But no one needs to know right now.

I met a tall, dark and handsome man
And I’ve been busy makin’ big plans
But no one needs to know right now. I got my heart set, my feet wet and the dummy don’t even know it yet
But no one needs to know right now. I’ll tell him someday, some way, somehow, But I’m gonna keep it a secret for now.

I want bells to ring, a choir to sing
The white dress the guests the cake the car the whole darn thing but no one needs to know right now.

No editorial comment needed: If you don’t get the message, I can’t help you.

I know some of you like riddles and I have one for you: What is more valuable than money and sweeter than honey? Text me as soon as you figure it out. It is biblical and that is the only hint I am giving.

Only in Alabama, 70 one day and 40 the next. I hope you have good day and thanks for reading the blog.

A little poem from SPRINGS IN THE DESERT to brighten your day…

No chance hath brought this ill to me,
‘Tis God’s own hand so let it be. He seeth what I cannot see.
