The Rich Man

Scripture

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. “

~Luke 16:19, NASB

Quote

When wealth becomes your identity, you come to feel that people are not just below you economically; they are below you.

~Timothy Keller

Keller’s Proverb for October 30, was Proverbs 10:15, “The wealth of the rich is their fortified city.” In ancient times, wealthy people lived in fortified or gated communities. Poor people couldn’t afford such protection. City dwelling or living in the gated community gave them status. What the wealthy fail to realize is that given time, their wealth becomes their identity. The rich man that Jesus talks about in Luke 16 does not have a personal name; Jesus simply says, “There was a rich man.” The poor man who lived right outside the rich man’s gate begging for the scraps that came from the rich man’s table had a name. Jesus called him Lazarus. Do you want people to remember your name or only that you were rich?

I believe Keller is right. I believe that those who are extremely wealthy look down on the rest of us. People like Soros and Bloomberg think they are better than we are simply because they have billions of dollars. They have been footing the bill for all these abdominal Doug Jones ads because they look down on Alabama. The truth is–they despise or look down on Jones too but the poor fool doesn’t have enough sense to know what’s going on. He is their minion, their little stool pigeon. Doug Jones doesn’t represent Alabama, he votes the way they tell him to vote. He is a political prostitute. He will not dare rebel against his political pimps. I’m telling you, these rich Jews like Bloomberg and Soros are pushing socialism because they see themselves as the elite. They are so far above us, socialism will not have adverse affects on them. At least that is what they think. They are blinded by their own pride. They have more money than they do sense.

Sorry about being late: I should have posted before I went to bed because is was close to mid-night before I retired. Big L’s final game was long. It is a beautiful day outside and perfect for TRUNK-A-TREAT. We will be at the point tonight from 5:00-6:30. Our special treat is those delicious Halsey’s all beef franks with chili. I may stop and get some slaw. I love slaw on a CHILI DOG.
