Not only did Jesus speak the truth: He Himself was and is TRUTH. On the day of Jesus execution, He said to Pilate the Roman Governor, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.” Jesus always spoke truth and he abhorred hypocrisy. Actually, no one other than Jesus uses the word hypocrite and Jesus used it 18 times. Jesus could read minds and see hearts. No one could hide anything from Him. Thus He being TRUTH was an antagonist to the hypocrites. Jesus wants us to be real or authentic, He is an enemy to pretense.
The Jewish religious establishment had perverted God’s law: they twisted it so that it fit perfectly with their life and times. They did the same thing the secular humanist are doing today: they devised a righteousness or morality from a purely human base: it was an ethic that suited their taste. This is exactly what the secular humanist are doing today: they are redefining what is right and what is wrong. To say, read or repeat what scripture says about deviant sexual behavior is wrong; it hate and intolerance: so says the left. This is not what God says in His revealed word. Let me tell you what happens to people who devise their own code of conduct or righteousness: they reject TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS. The Jews in going about to establish their own human based righteousness rejected JESUS who lived a purely righteous life in their behalf. They thought they could produce a righteousness that God would accept without the righteousness He provided vicariously in Christ.
Listen to me my dear friend: any righteousness a part from CHRIST is self-righteousness and it is a stench in God’s nostrils and will not hold up in court. I know it is disappointment to the proud but you cannot produce a righteousness that God will accept. Just throw in the towel and turn to Jesus.
