I muddled through my devotions yesterday or at least I tried. About mid-way I gave up and went back to bed but the one scripture that stood out in my mind was this one is Psalms 89. David is a type of Christ. It is true that God never allowed David to suffer a defeat in battle. Even in the case of Absalom, God gave victory to David. David didn’t consider it such since it cost him a son but David was the undefeated champion of Israel. In that regard, there was never another king like him. But these verse are not primarily about David. Luke tells us in Acts 10,
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. As Doug use to sing, Jesus is the undisputed Champion of the world. Even His death on Calvary was a marvelous victory although it did not seem so at the time. I would also like the scripture above to be prophetic of our day.
This morning on Rick and Bubba, a man compared Trump to David and although they didn’t take him seriously, it is not a bad comparison. Both were loved by the common people and hated by the establishment. Both were deeply flawed. I don’t know that Trump has ever had another man executed so he can take his wife. I heard a Trump hater say the other day that he had raped seven women. Billionaires do not have to rape women. Perhaps he has slept with a dozen or more but he is still not in David’s league. If you don’t think David was one flawed dude, you don’t know anything about the bible. Not only was he sex hound; he had a violent temper. He had people executed for bringing news, supposedly good news but he didn’t like their attitude, so he killed them on the spot. Of course, TRUMP haters do not know the bible.
So the bottom line is this: God gave David victory and of course He gave Jesus greater victory. This same God can give Donald Trump victory. We are in a position where only God can give the victory. Perhaps, this is where He wants us: totally dependent on him. PRAY FOR REVIVAL IN AMERICA!
Wouldn’t it be great to see FOX and all the major news outlets totally embarrassed? What happened to FOX NEW? I heard yesterday that FOX has declared Georgia the winner over Florida. They found 17 additional points during the night. Babylon Bee says, “FOX declares Biden the winner in 2024.” I’ve heard that Trump may create his own news outlet. It would be an instant success. I haven’t watched the news in 30 years but here lately, I hear one after the other say, “I am through with them.”
By the way there is a message for us in Psalm 89..I’ll stick with him through thick and thin. No enemy will get the best of him, no scoundrel will do him in. This is not going to get the best of us: it is going to bring out the best in us.
At one time in my life, I thought TV would be my downfall. I also remember visiting senior adults in nursing homes who had no TV and didn’t want one. I thought, “They are crazy.” Guess what, it would be a form of torture to put a TV in my room. I loath commercials. I couldn’t enjoy football Saturday for all the commercials. I got June to change back to Charter so I could have a channel switch button but every time I switched, they were advertising on that channel also. It drives me crazy.
I guess it is day 5 for me and Covid. It began with body aches in joints. I thought it was the flu; still not convinced that is it not. The Practitioner who saw me was very nice. I had on my white Trump cap and a red Trump/Pence T-shirt. She said, “I like your attire.” I had one of those emotional moments like we Bailey’s are prone to do. I got choked up and couldn’t say a word but I didn’t have to. She began consoling me. I did tell her that I had the flu so she did the test. When she came back in she said, “You have covid and you knew it, didn’t you?” I said, “I was afraid of exposing others so I knew I had to come.” I feel a lot better today. Hoping to have a normal day. God is good!
