Too Big!

Scripture

No one pours new wine into old wine skins. The wine would swell and burst the old skins. Then the wine would be lost, and the skins would be ruined.

~Matthew 9:17, CEV

You may as well try to put the Atlantic Ocean in your bathtub as to put Jesus in Judaism or any other religion.

I’m sorry folks, but the JRE [Jewish religious establishment] was spiritually blind. A first grader has more understanding than these religious zealots. The JRE rejected Jesus from day one. They did not like His unorthodox methods. They resisted His radical teachings. They criticized Him for spending time with sinners and they could not understand why He had such blatant disregard for their laws and customs. Why He even ate without going through the ritual hand washing which is a horse and pony show. Of all things, His disciples laughed a lot and they didn’t fast and disfigure their faces. None of them had the patented “Holy Look,” which is the facial expression of someone who is somewhere between acid indigestion and a migraine headache. Not that they were listening or that they actually understood what Jesus was telling them but He said, “No one [not even an idiot] puts new wine in an old skin.” Understand: Jesus is the NEW WINE and Judaism is the old skin. Why cant you put Jesus in Judaism? Obviously, the Pharisees and Scribes thought that was where Jesus belonged but it is an impossibility. You can’t put the Atlantic ocean in your bath tub or your swimming pool–it is for too huge. Compared to Jesus, Judaism is tiny. How can you put the CREATOR of the universe in such a small container? Dah! You can’t, it is impossible.

I’m not knocking Temples or Religions but the idea of putting Jesus in such restraints is ridiculous. David told the LORD that he wanted to build Him a Temple. The LORD said, “I’ve not ask for one, I don’t need one, the idea is insane: how can you put the Infinite One is a finite structure. I have a better idea, I will build you a Temple or better still, I will send you One.” Understand this is the JEV, Jack’s everyday version. God’s Temple has always been Jesus. Jesus gave us the only clue we need when He said, “Destroy this TEMPLE and in three days, I will raise it up.” Of course they thought He was talking about the house of stone that Herod built. In Matthew 24, the disciples are in awe of the massive stones that were the foundation of the temple: they were 8 feet long, 4 feet wide and 4 feet high. One stone weighed tons. Jesus said, “Get a good look at it because it is coming down; it is not permanent; it is not the real thing.” What is it about us humans: we just don’t get it do we. We worship everything other than what we are supposed to worship. It is not about buildings, worship attendance, rituals, customs, programs, traditions and such: it is about JESUS. It has always been about JESUS. I don’t know what your question is but the answer is Jesus.]

Off to Lawrence County to build a barn. I have to be a good steward of this warm weather. Have a great day!.
