Who Cares?

Scripture

“Master, carest Thou not that we perish?”

~Mark 4:38, KJ21

Jesus allows the storms to draw you to Himself. He brings you to the point of realizing that all earthly resources have failed you so that you will turn to Him.

~Charles Stanley

Have you ever made the comparison between Jesus and Jonah: both were in a boat, both were fast asleep in a storm, both were totally unafraid of the weather while everyone else on board was horrified and both calmed the sea just in different ways. Jonah calmed the sea by his confession and Jesus by the power of His word. Obviously, there are differences: Jonah was in rebellion and Jesus and the disciples were being obedient but storms come to all.

Jews, by nature, are not seafaring people because they are afraid of water. Although most of the disciples were fishermen and were accustomed to being on the sea even at night, this storm was probably the worse they had ever seen. They were facing hurricane type winds, up to 70 MPH and the boat was probably not that big. All the disciples were afraid of drowning. I’m sure they did not want to wake Jesus, knowing He was exhausted from teaching all day but when their fear hit the panic level, they woke Him up with the question, “Master, don’t you care that we are about to drown?”

Jesus was offended by the question. He asks them, “Why are you so afraid? Why don’t you have faith in Me?” How many miracles must I perform to win your confidence? How many times must I tell you that I love you before you believe Me? Think about it fellows: if I created the earth, the skies and the water; do you doubt that I can control them? No sea can swallow the ship were lies, the Creator and Master of earth and skies. A part of our sanctification is to learn not to rely on anyone or anything other than Jesus. The boat can’t save you, the oars can’t save you, the sails can save you, the life preservers can’t save you, the others on board can’t save you…LOOK TO JESUS and live. My hope is in nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

The grass is greening up: it has that April green texture. The trees are beginning to bud and turn green. I think Spring begins officially tomorrow. The last two days have been more like March, a lot of wind and cool.

Our Friend David Wood has the covid so pray for David.

I hope you have a great weekend and thanks for reading the blog. I also want to thank Jamie and Mandy for reading the EXTRA.
