Worry And Anxiety

Scripture

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

~Matthew 6:26-27, NLT

Quote

The happiest people in the world are those who trust their heavenly Father completely to provide their needs.

~William Franklin Graham

I have enjoyed Dr. Graham’s devotional DAY BY DAY. The August 17 entry was especially good. According to Dr. Graham, who traveled the world extensively, some rail road maintance personal found a Thrust nest undernead the rails on a track in England. It was an active railway with speed trains rolling over the track several times a day. They were amazed. This bird sat calmly on her nest {eggs} underneath the speeding trains. The bird did not flench. It was as if there was nothing above but peace and calm. No wonder Jesus used birds as an illustration. Most of us have to admit that the commotion around us is a bit disturbing. I don’t watch any news and haven’t for more than 30 years. If we can keep our daily focus on Jesus, the worries and anxieties concerning this world will pass without our fretting

The Robin and the Sparrow

Said the robin to the sparrow,
“I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.”
Said the sparrow to the robin,
“Friend I think that it must be,
That they have no Heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me.”

We can learn from the birds.

I don’t know which depresses me most: heat or drought? At my age you don’t want to wish your life away but I am ready for fall. We are going to get a short break from the heat ut no rain in sight.  I actually have friends who love this heat. I love them but I think they are touched and not necessarily by an angel. Surely no one loves a drought! Ten or twelve years ago on the 4th of July it rained 5 inches is just over an hour. Water came over the road just below our house. I would love to see it happen again.

I have good news bad news and I am going to keep the bad news to myself. The good news is that June and I are getting to go to Hillsdale College the last week in September for a Seminar on GOD IN AMERICAN HISTORY. I am as excited as a fox in a hen house. June wants to go with me. She and the kids will feel better if she is along. She is my memory, hearing aid, nurse, accountant and care giver. Grace Point is going to scholarship us. Thank YOU Grace Point.
