A Hiding Place

Scripture

You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your word.

There is only one safe hiding place.

I did a brief study of Psalm 62 during my devotional time yesterday. It is a great Psalm where David confesses his dependence on the LORD. David said, “I find my rest in the LORD. He is like a fort to me. In Him, I feel secure.” I don’t know about you, but I can relate. From time to time, when the burdens grow heavy, I dream of the cloistered life; to be isolated from the world. David said is Psalm 55, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.” Jeremiah said, Oh, that I could go away and forget my people and live in a travelers’ shack in the desert.” Job said, “Why did I not die at birth…then I would be asleep; then I would be at rest. From time to time, I think most of us feel the same way these guys felt. We feel a great need to escape from our present reality.

The good news is… we have a place to go or should I say, a Person in whom to go. I had a hiding place when I was a kid and I have one today. I am in my hideout as I speak. Technically, you may not see it as a hideout because you know where it is and so does everyone else, but it is a place where I can be alone with Jesus with no interruptions or distractions. I do have a computer and sometimes a phone, but I have no TV or Radio. The last thing I want to hear is NEWS from the world. It amazes me how these Psalms speak to my needs. I can take David’s words in Psalm 62 and make them mine. Seriously, the man was thinking my exact thoughts. “It is surely true that I find my rest in Christ. He is the One who saves me. Jesus is my rock. He is like a fort to me. I will always be secure in HIM. My enemies attack me, {and many times on Sunday night after I have preached three times}. I feel like a leaning wall; like a fence about to fall. My fleshly enemies of fear and doubt are trying to pull me down. My arch enemy, the devil, takes delight in telling lies; One right after the other but I go to Christ for shelter, He is my ARK of safety. I find my rest in HIM. He is the only One who gives me hope.” {Psalm 62:1-5, NIRV}

I don’t know how any believer survives without the Psalms. Speaking of the Psalms; I will be in 111 at Grace Point tonight.

Extra

I visited an old friend in Athens yesterday who is battling cancer. He has been a friend to the Bailey family for many years. His name is Lawrence and he is stage four. He is a believer and he has been an humble servant. He has used his time and resources to help others.

Putin and the Fake News

The news has been propaganda for most of my life: they do not report facts. They have a narrative and if the events do not fit their narrative, they either alter the facts or they fabricate a story based on some event. If they are portraying Putin as crazy and demented; he is probably not. I am just telling you; the media cannot be trusted. Do you trust the Decatur Daily? Don’t trust the national media either. I will be the first to tell you that I do not know what is going on, but I can assure you…You will not get the truth from the major media outlets. It could be that Putin is the last person standing between the left and their plan to globalize. They got Trump out of the way for this very reason and now they are trying to remove Putin.

Two ways at looking at globalization: [1] In could mean that the antichrist is waiting in the wings and about to appear [2] Or it could be tribulation. I can tell you what it is not…It is not good or at least pleasant.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the Blog.
