Scripture
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
~Psalm 116:17, NLT
Quote
A thankful attitude opens the windows of heaven.
~Sarah Young
As we live this life we observe things. We learn that all truly grateful people have suffered many hardships and yet they have joy that cannot be hidden, a joy unspeakable and full of glory. In reference to our great salvation in Christ, Peter wrote, In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.
I have seen this in others. Many years ago I meet a retired Missionary from what was then Rhodesia {now called Zimbabwe}. He had spent 40 years on the dark continent. He had burried two wives and two children in Africa. He was a man of few words but he had an aura that commanded respect. He and his wife stayed in our home when we lived in Danville. Every night at midnight, he came out of the bed, got down on his knees and prayed. He was the most humble person I have ever met. I never detected one air of pride about his appearance, reputation or anything else. I was driving him from one meeting to another; we were on highway 24 between Moulton and Decatur. He said, “Pastor, if you don’t mind, please pull off the road, I feel a burden to pray.” I pulled off the road pronto. He was also the most thankful person I’ve ever known. I have learned that those who have suffered like Clyde Dotson have reached a higher plain; they breathe air that the rest of us know nothing about. May God give us thankful hearts. It is the key to joy. Today, take time to offer up to God a sacrifice of Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
Unfortunately, sickness does not take TG off and as we celebrate TG here we are mindful of those who cannot be home for TG. Our good friend Jean Narrel is in UAB, awaiting an stint procedure. She was supposed to have had it done yesterday but now it will be Monday. Also remember Brent and Melanie Mitchell. Their children drove to Houston to be with their mom who did not get to come home for TG. Christy Clark is home, but has constant indigestion and has not been able to eat at all. Before you dive into the turkey, take a moment to remember those who are suffering this TG.
We smoked a turkey during the night. We have carved it and got it ready to go. I have a few minutes in the office and then we are off to the TG day praise and worship at DBC. Then Hannah will host our TG get together. I hope you have a good day.
