A Shaken World

Scripture

The haughty eyes of people shall be brought low, and the pride of everyone shall be humbled; and the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

~Isaiah 2:11, NRSV

Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret. There are better things ahead than any we leave behind.

I’m in the process of preparing a message from Psalm 46 which is one of my favorites, I came across some interesting thoughts that I want to share. Psalm 6 was probably written by king Hezekiah who was a poet. Matter of fact, he may have wrote both 46 and 47. The back drop of the Psalm was the Sennacherib crisis: the king of Assyria had laid siege to Jerusalem. Hezekiah was visibly shaken by the threat of this huge and barbaric army camped outside the wall of Jerusalem. Thus he penned these words, God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble! To the Jews, the ocean was a symbol of the instability of this world. One minute the ocean is calm and the next it is raging. We do live in a fallen world that has been disturbed by the ravages of sin. It is not a perfect world and sometimes not a peaceful world. There are wars and rumors of wars. In brief, we live in a troubled world where sacred institutions are crumbling into the raging sea of worldliness and secular humanism. Isaiah’s prophecy comes to mind, The earth is utterly broken, the earth is rent asunder, the earth is violently shaken.

BUT the Psalm ends on a prophetic note and it is a good word, one that elicits praise. Come, see the glorious things that our God does, how He brings ruin upon the world and causes wars to end throughout the earth, breaking and burning every weapon.“Stand silent! Know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation in the world!” Isaiah said, “The day is coming when your proud looks will be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted.” I do believe with all my heart that God will have the last word: every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is LORD. Time will end with a great crescendo of praise for our Savior. Tell the birds not to sing, tell little children not to run, play and jump, tell the springs of water not to flow; ah, go ahead and tell the sun not to shine. God created this world to praise Him and it will praise Him! Let the anarchist burn and loot; they can do so only because God allows it but that time of freedom is coming to an end.

I’ve said all along that the Virus scare was mostly political and now it seems rather evident. Soros and his paid hoodlums are given free rein by the mayors to burn down cities, this also is political. All of this could have been stopped. It is just an excuse to rip from history any vestige of the civil war. If they aren’t careful, they will start the second civil war. They aren’t really thinking this thing through but again, they don’t think. I am real disappointed in the Governors as well. All the burning and looting are on them and the mayors. They could have stopped it all so why didn’t they? You know why, they don’t like the President that we elected. Grand Maw Ivy needed to resign. We need a governor that has the courage to do what is right, not what is politically correct. You see, the left defines political correctness.
