Always Be Humble and Kind

I think Ephesians 4:32 was Mother’s favorite verse. I know it was the one she quoted most often. She did not like for us {siblings} to speak harshly to each other. She wanted us to treat each other with kindness. I got a beating on Christmas Day for telling one of my sisters to shut up. I could have appologized and avoided the whipping, but I chose the whipping. Reminds me of a story that happened back in 2016. I had to go to court as an advocate for one of my children. Courts make me anxious. We sat there all morning waiting for the judge to get to our case. I could not help but notice how calm he was and how kind he was to each person. We are not talking about high profile cases. One woman was there for writing a bad check to pay for a pizza. The $17 pizza ended up costing her $1200. There was one domestic abuse case. The abuser was a tall skinny woman {not Big Mama} who had beaten  her husband half to death. He weighed about 230. I would have fined him for letting that little woman beat him up.  I was amazed at the Judge; he was patient and kind in every situation. He never demeaned or condescended.

When it came our time and we approached the bench, I didn’t understand much of what the Judge said and I am sure he could see the question marks in my eyes. Finally he stopped and said, “Mr. Bailey, this is what I would do if I were in your circumstances.” Then he gently told me what I needed to do and when he was through, I said, “That sounds good to me Judge, let’s do it.” I was thrilled with his verdict but moreso with his kindness. I do want to be more like that Judge. A song popped in my head: I have not heard it in years. I don’t think they play it much, but I went to YouTube and listened to it this morning. Brace yourself for more cold weather. It was actually cool at Josie’s soccer game last night but it is going to get colder according to Big Mama and James Spann. It is Wednesday and nursing home visitation day. We will be in Proverbs tonight: Family, Friends, and Neighbors.

Pray for our sick. Billy Turney was going to be moved back to Summerford but he had a set back. As far as I know, everyone else is about the same. God bless you; have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
