Baruch Atah

Scripture

Bless the LORD, my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

~Psalm 103:1, NLT

Quote

Make it the purpose of your life, above all else, to bless the LORD.

~Jonathan Cahn

Baruch Atah is Hebrew for “bless you.” The Hebrews began their prayers by blessing God. I have always struggled with the concept of me blessing God. How does the finite bless the infinite. It is simple to understand the opposite; the greater party is practically always the one who blesses. How do I, a human bless the infinite and eternal Creator of the universe? Praise and adoration are certainly ways and we should discipline ourselves to begin our prayers by blessing the LORD with praise and adoration. I would think that thanksgiving would be a way that we can bless the LORD. Most certainly, obedience is a way to bless the LORD. With that said, it is still hard for me to imagine how I can be a blessing to the LORD. Maybe there is a clue in Matthew 25 where Jesus talks about judgement day. Jesus said to the righteous…‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visitedMe; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ The righteous said, “We don’t remember helping  You in this way LORD and Then Jesus said, Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’ Whenever we show mercy, compassion on other humans; whenever we love and care for them, we are doing it unto the ONE who created them. You help a baby and you are helping Jesus. You help a senior adult and you are helping Jesus. When you bless others, you are in fact blessing HIM.

Make our goal today be to bless someone. You will get a blessing out of being a blessing. Trust me, you cannot out bless the Blesser.
