Darkness And Light

Scripture

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

~John 1:5, NLT

Quote

If we don’t fill our minds with God’s truth, we can easily succumb to the the lies and fears that the world throws at us.

~Billy Graham

Technically, there is no such thing as darkness. Darkness is merely the absence of light. Light is a substance made up of particles: darkness has no substance. The light can shine in darkness, but darkness cannot dwell in light. When God created our tiny solar system, He put the sun at the center. Everything revolves around the sun our source of light. Because the earth spins or turns on an invisible axis, we have day and night, darkness and light. Night is the effect from the earth turning away from the light. Night is earth dwelling in its own shadow. The same principle applies in the spiritual realm: when a person turns away from the SON {Light}, they turn to darkness. When we turn from His glorious presence, darkness overtakes us, and we live in the darkness of our own shadow. How do you explain the ignorance of the Jewish people? We all know that they are very intellectual people, and they excel in so many areas. They know how to make money. They know how to grease the wheel and manipulate people and events. They have won far more than their share of the Nobel Prizes and they have made many key discoveries in science and medicine, but they are absolutely blind in the spiritual sense.

The Orthodox Jew believes the O.T. is the word of God and yet the O.T. is saturated with messianic prophecies and promises. If the O.T. is the word of God, Jesus had to be the Messiah. Paul and Apollos could take the scriptures and prove that Jesus was the Messiah, yet most Jews rejected Christ. They turned away from the Son {light} and they live in the shadow of their own darkness. Jesus said in John 5, “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come {turn} to me to receive this life.” They turned away from the Son {Light} and have been walking in darkness since. Everyone who turns away from the Son will walk in darkness.

I love light. Chloe gave us a little night light for the bedroom that is motion activated. If I raise up in bed, it comes on. That little light enables me to find my crocks and get to the bathroom without falling. I love that little light. I even love red lights. I hated traffic lights before the April BLACKOUT {2011} but those five days of darkness changed my views. The older I get the less I like close places {MRI}, traffic, crowds and darkness. I do not want to live in darkness. I love the light. No part of me wants to rebel against God.

We got a rain and I mean a rain. Thank YOU Jesus! Third day of VBS and I am behind in my study. Busy day yesterday, I visited a few friends in Cherokee where I served for four and half years after seminary. Most of that congregation gone. They are down to 40 and meet only once a week. GP and DBC have a lot to be thankful for. Covid-19 didn’t hurt us as bad as it did others.

VBS is going great, over 200 kids and this is 4 Year old through 4th grade. Mandy has about 30 in her group. It is a beautiful sight.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
