Scripture
In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain.”
~Psalm 11:1, NIV
Quote
Fleeing is usually an act of self-preservation. It is an attempt to save our own skin at the expense of those around us.
~Ya’akov
I am currently reading the NIV commentary on Psalms written by Gerald Henry Wilson. Wilson was an Old Testament scholar who served as professor of Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew at Azusa Pacific University. Wilson studied at Baylor University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Yale University. He passed away in 2005 at the youthful age of sixty. If he were living today, I think there is a chance he would be woke: if not woke, he would be sympathetic. I came to this conclusion after reading his commentary on Psalm 10, but I decided to give him another shot since his commentary is the only one in my office that I have not read. I am quite sure I cannot say all that I want to in one blog but today, we will introduce some thoughts on pluralism, post-modernism and the destruction of our foundations.
In Psalm 11, David is encouraged to flee for his life. The people giving him this advice are probably not true friends. David refuses to flee. His response was “I will take refuge in the LORD.” Fleeing from trouble, persecution, problems and responsibilities is the easy way out. People do it all the time: a man gets a woman pregnant and then he abandoned her. Fleeing is the response of a coward; someone who is totally self-centered and is not taking into consideration the needs of others. In the case above, it would be the mother and the baby.
Consider this: God allowed you to get into the situation you are in and you are there for a reason. He may be revealing something to you about yourself or Himself. Jesus allowed Mary and Martha to get into a sad situation but it was so He could reveal to them a greater truth about Himself. They knew He was a healer but He wanted them to understand that He was more. We’ve all been in difficult circumstances and the temptaion is to flee, but is fleeing the right thing to do? Don’t run from your problems: run to Jesus and take refuge in HIM. He will give you the grace to endure your situation and to prosper spiritually from it.

Great turn out at the Shrimp boil. I don’t know who ate the most, me are Jim. I would say that between us, we took care of at least 40. Pat did an outstanding job. The boy is a cheif par excellence. At first, I didn’t think we would have enough folks there to eat them but there was not a lot left, maybe we could have fed 20 more people.
We got another rain while I was at the POINT. It was dark when I came to the office; I am going out in a couple of hours and access the damage. Our okra is not going to make it. We are getting more rain here than they are on the east side. I literally prayed for sunshine yesterday. We will be on our shed building project today LORD willing. I hope you have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.
I think we will go with the 49er luncheon on May 23 at 11:30 and do the picnic another time. I’ve got too much going on right now. We will be having chicken and fish for meat and whatever you bring. I may do some hush puppies. Wendy’s is furnishing the chicken. They are Trump supporters. They are donating it. Not many fast food corps will do that, right?
I hope you have a good day without rain.
