Scripture
They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s anger subsided.
~Esther 7:10 (CSB)

I will let no man cause me to hate another.

People get the wrong idea about God; He does hate sin but a part of that hatred is because it is destructive to humans. God is not out to destroy anyone. Jesus said, “I have come to give you life, abundant life.” Jesus didn’t come in the first advent to judge or condemn; He came to seek and save. Sin carries its own judgment. Sin by its very nature is destructive and anti-human. Drug addiction is a good example. God is not out to destroy drug addicts, the drugs are destroying them. You have absolutely no future if you get addicted to drugs. I can tell you exactly which direction your life is going if you are hooked on drugs-–down, you are going down. I do not care if you are a poor drug addict who forges your grandmothers SS check to get another fix or if you are a rich drug addict and can afford any drug you want. Drugs are no respecter of persons: it doesn’t matter if you are rich and famous like Michael Jackson or Elvis—drugs will take you down. There is an emotional drug that is just as dangerous as crack cocaine and it is called hate. If you are a hater, you are going down. Hate will destroy any human. God did not create us with the capacity to hate. We are not designed to carry hate. Hate is a hazardous acid that we can not contain. We are not going to like everyone but we better not give in to hatred. Jesus didn’t like Pharisees. He left the country more than once to get away from them. They were judgmental and obnoxious people. They had the ability to ruin your day, to rain on your parade and to find fault with everything you do or did. Tom Bennich use to have a sign hanging in the office of their tire store: it read, “Everyone makes me happy; some when they enter, other when they leave.” The Pharisees were the latter. Jesus didn’t want to hang out with them but He didn’t hate them. As a matter of fact, He died for them.
A woman came to me several years ago and she was spewing out venom. She told me she hated her son-in-law and wished he was dead. {He wasn’t Sheila or Wendy’s mom} Circumstances put me in the same room with her and I couldn’t get away. Finally I said, “You are mistaken about your emotions, you cannot hate anyone and be a Christian.” I quoted the passages out of I John as best I could:
- He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. [I John 2:9]
- But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. [I John 2:11]
- Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. [I John 3:15]
- If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? [I John 4:20]
The bible makes it very clear, if you are a TRUMP hater, you don’t love Jesus. If you are an Obama hater, you don’t love Jesus. I pray for President Trump most every day. I will confess that I prayed for Obama more like once a week but I prayed for him. I prayed for God to save him and change his heart. To give him a heart for the unborn and for Christ. Obama did absolutely nothing to help persecuted Christians around the world–NOTHING. You show me the record where he helped a persecuted pastor or Christians and I will retract this statement but I’m not worried. Puttin did more for persecuted Christians than Obama and yet we have professed Christians by the thousand who adore Obama and hate Trump. I’m not talking about dislike, I am talking hate. They pray for his death and destruction. Next to Jesus, Trump is the most hated man in America. I would be more hated if everyone knew me but I can hide in anonymity and obscurity. Rodney Dangerfield’s boy came up to him and said, “Dad, everyone hates me.” Rodney said, “Shut up boy, everyone hasn’t met you.” The Hollywooders even hate Mrs. Trump. Probably because she looks better than they do and she hasn’t had 28 plastic surgeries. If you want to destroy yourself, just give in to hate.
Haman was a hater. He was obsessed with the destruction of Mordecai the Jew. The king had given Haman great authority, honor and wealth but none of this satisfied Haman because Mordecai was still alive and well and sitting at the king’s gate. His obsession with Mordecai brought about his own destruction. Haman was hung on the gallows he built for Mordecai. He never realized he was constructing his own gallows. Mordecai never laid a finger on Haman, nor even threatened him in any way. Haman hung himself.
