Hope For The Hopeless

Scripture

Listen to how they whisper their slander against me, saying: “Look! He is hopeless! Even God cannot save him from this!”

~Psalm 3:2, TPT

Quote

Not only does the devil seek to destroy our dignity and honor; he tries to undermine our very confidence in the good intent of God to bless and to save.

~Gerald H. Wilson {NIV Commentary}

Most scholars believe that Psalm 3 refers to David’s flight from Absalom. It was an embarrassing moment in David’s life. He had lost the support of the general population and of the elders. Absalom had successfully undermined his kingship. David walks out of Jerusalem barefoot and broken. His head is bowed in shame. His own son is seeking not only his throne but his life. Over the years David has made a lot of enemies and they are beginning to celebrate his demise. They are certain that the king is beyond hope and that not even God can save him now. They were wrong: God did save him.

The moral of the story is simple; no situation is hopeless when God is involved, and He is always involved. David did suffer humiliation and even in his victory [regaining the throne], there was grief due to Absalom’s death, but David was restored and his nay-sayers proved to be wrong. It is easy to get down and out. It is easy to get down on your self. We are all tempted to quit, to throw in the old proverbial towel, but God is in the business of restoring souls. David’s situation looked impossible but God came through for him and He will come through for you as well.

Extra

Another cool night of Locust winter. I think it will warm up today. The rye grass is growing in the yard but the corn is standing still. I don’t know how much rain we got but I would guess between 3-4 inches. Our tiny row of tomatoes survived, all except two plants. There was something I was going to share with you today in the extra but I can’t remember what it is; I will add it later if it comes to mind.

I hope you have a good Tuesday. We have a grandson having a birthday today: he is 22 and a senior at Athens State. Lexi, our 27 year old graduated there last Saturday. Our baby will be 13 this September. I think GK’s grow up faster than kids. We have greats also: Gunner Cash is our latest and Caroline June is on the way.

This is our Great Grand son Gunner, a little over 2 months old and weighs right at 15 pounds. He loves his mama and his granny but he only takes naps for Big Mama who has him today.
