Jesus Is Coming

Scripture

A tribute to God when He {Jesus} comes, when He comes to set the earth right. He’ll straighten out the whole world, He’ll put the world right, and everyone in it.

~Psalm 98:9, MSG

Quote

He rules the world with truth and grace and makes the nations prove the glories of His righteousness and the wonders of His love.

~Issac Watts

Jesus is coming and I hope soon. When He comes He will restore order and set things straight. He will be in charge and there will be no doubt in anyone’s mind. There will be no resistance, no rebellion: every knee will bow willingly. No force will be necessary. The world scoffs at such prophecy but it will happen. I was reading the gospel of John a couple of days ago and I came to the passage in Chapter 18…

After saying these things, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples and entered a grove of olive trees. Judas, the betrayer, knew this place, because Jesus had often gone there with his disciples. The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove. Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to Him, so He stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked, “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied. “I am He,” Jesus said.  As Jesus said “I am he,” they all drew back and fell to the ground!

Jesus is the life force. He is the giver of our breath and energy. A part from the life He imparts, we are mere jelly fish, actually less. He allowed them to arrest Him. They would never have gotten off the ground had He not allowed it. When He returns, He will be coming in glory; not weakness. He made Himself weak in the incarnation to save us from our sins but when He returns, He is coming in strength and there will be no one who can stand against Him. It will be over before it starts.

A few years ago, someone introduced me to a man who had played baseball at Auburn. I was trying to be nice and I asked him how they were doing in baseball. I really had no clue because I don’t follow college baseball. It was playoff time and He said, “We’re not doing that well but Vandy and Mississippi State are doing well,” and I think he mentioned SC and Florida also. I said, “Well at least the conference is doing well. It looks like the SEC will be dominant.” I should not have used that word dominant; he bristled immediately, “You’re an Alabama fan aren’t you?” I said, “Matter of fact, I am.” He said, “Yeah, and you are all alike, all you think about is total dominance.” With that snide remark, he just walked away. Well Alabama is light years from total dominance but Jesus is not. When He returns, we will all see what total dominance looks like.

Covid is like a roller coaster, a lot of ups and downs. You get to feeling better and think you have it whipped and it comes back with a vengeance. I sure don’t want to celebrate prematurely but I have felt much better for the past two days. I have had two nights in a row of normal sleep which is a huge blessing. I am very thankful and also very concerned about Joe David and Mike as they battle this mess. I am hoping to hear good news from Joe David today and we all need to pray for Mike. Covid can be brutal.

Remember GRACE POINT family; we do not meet for the next two Wednesday nights but hopefully, I will see you Sunday morning and we will get back in to Romans Eight, LORD willing!
