Keys To Triumphant Living

Scripture

Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

~Hebrews 12:1b-2a

The LORD blesses people who bless others.

~William Franklin Graham

How do we manage the undulations of life; the ups and downs; the trials and triumphs? Billy Graham gives us some sound advice. First: we must stay in the word. When I was growing up, I did daily bible reading most of the time but it was so I could be 100% when I got to Sunday School. Most of you do not remember, but Southern Baptist had a eight point grading system. Your turned in your offering envelop in Sunday School and it had eight boxes you could check: SS attendance, Bringing your bible, Lesson studied, Giving, Worship Attendance, Daily Bible Reading, Visits, and contacts. Very few honest people could check all eight boxes. I just happened to think of this but the point is: we need to read our bibles daily and it should be a delight not a duty.

The second thing is to have a consistent prayer life. We need a daily quiet time. A time of prayer and meditation. We do not understand what a privilege it is to have in 24/7/365 access. Some of the devout ancient Hebrews would have given their right arm for such a privilege. Are you not glad that God does not limit our time with Him. We can pray when we like and as long as we like. Number three is keeping the focus on Jesus. We cannot worship without the Holy Trinity. You can have a choir, a preacher, smoke and mirrors but if God is not present {manifested presence}, you don’t have worship in spirit and truth. You can call it worship but if Jesus is not front and center; it is not true worship. Number four is also important: stay in fellowship with other believers. No man is an island. The LORD has no “Lone Ranger” followers. We need the LORD and we need each other, and confessing this is not weakness, it is wisdom. So don’t lay out of church or forsake the assembly: you need good Christian fellowship.

I had the privilege of meeting Amanda Mote yesterday. She is a delightful young lady and now when I pray for her, I will see a beautiful face. David is losing weight daily. He was sitting in a recliner but his parents were there and we did not go in. I have a burden for the Amanda, David, and the girls. David has been battling cancer for some five or six years.

I also got to visit Billy Turney. Billy is in HH and better but still not well. Billy loves his home on Gravel Ridge Road. My prayer is that he will get to go home in the next month or so. His son Keith, one of our new members is also sick.

I use to pick at my old buddy Hugh {Joe Fitzgerald dad}. Hugh had a two county limit. You might get him in Lawrence County or Cullman but it was hard to get him to go any further. I did get him to one Alabama game but he fussed all the way down there and all the way back. I am getting more like him everyday. If somebody gave me Huntsville, I would give it back. I know people who drive over there just to eat??? I will take my bologna sandwich right here in June’s kitchen. Longhorn is as far as I need to go, and I am not going there on Friday night.

The lastest IMPRIMIS came in the mail yesterday. It was on Trumps plan to restore America. You can read the IMPRIMIS on line. There is a lot in this article about the left highjacking higher education.
