No Future For The World

Scripture

For He has set a day for judging the world with justice by the Man He has appointed, and He proved to everyone who this is by raising Him from the dead.

~Acts 17:31, NLT

Unless we are separated from the world, we will share its fate.

~Martyn Lloyd Jones

The word ‘world’ means different things and has to be understood by its context. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world.” Here the context is people. God loves people. I John 2:15, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.” Here the Bible is talking about the world system that is in rebellion against Christ. The third usage would be of the material world: seas, land, mountains, etc. What Paul is saying above is that the world system, which is in rebellion against Christ, will be judged. It will be thrown into the lake of fire. We are either ‘in Christ’ or we are ‘in the world.’ Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. [2 Corinthians 6:17]

Let me give you a couple of stories that I think Paul had in mind. Isaiah 52:11 speaks of Israel coming out of Babylon which is a type of the world…Get out! Get out and leave your captivity, where everything you touch is unclean. Get out of there and purify yourselves, you who carry home the sacred objects of the Lord. The second story is found in Numbers 16. It is the story of Dathan’s rebellion against Moses…So Moses got up and rushed over to the tents of Dathan and Abiram, followed by the elders of Israel. “Quick!” he told the people. Get away from the tents of these wicked men, and don’t touch anything that belongs to them. If you do, you will be destroyed for their sins. What happened to Dathan and Abiram? The ground opened up beneath them and swallowed them and not only them but everyone who was near them. We want absolutely nothing to do with the world system that is set against Christ. We need to stay completely away from the rebellion in the hearts of those who oppose Christ. If we do not come out, we will be judged with them.

Rebellion against Christ frightens me. I want absolutely nothing to do with opposing the Lord Jesus. My goal is to obey Him; to please Him; to honor Him and hopefully someday hear Him say, “Well done.” I have to be honest, I’m not sure that is what He is going to say to me, but it is what I want to hear.

Joe David and I have to make a trip to Taft, Tennessee this morning. Taft is close to Lick Skillet and You Take It. Not kidding, these are real places between Ardmore and Fayetteville. We are going after sod. Two days of beautiful sunshine. I am going to wait as long as I can {before the next rain} and then try to mow the ditches. The ones here at 1120 are a quagmire.

Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
